CNN —At least four people have died and another is missing due to flooding this weekend in southern Switzerland, according to local police and Swiss state media. Police in Switzerland’s Valais canton said another man was found dead in a hotel in Saas-Grund, adding that initial findings suggest he could have been taken by surprise by the rapidly rising waters. The public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the case of the missing man in Binn and the man found dead in Saas-Grund, police said. As a result of the flooding, the Valais canton said it called on the army to provide support. Meanwhile in France, the department of Haute-Saône, which is near the border with Switzerland, was also hit with strong storms overnight.

CNN —Reigning champion Italy was knocked out of Euro 2024 in the last 16 after Switzerland produced a stunning upset to win 2-0 on Saturday at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Swiss supporters didn’t have to wait long after the break for a second goal – only 27 seconds to be exact. Italy’s continued sloppiness on the ball carried over into the second half, immediately giving the ball away from it’s own kickoff. While Switzerland deservedly advanced, it was an uncharacteristically out-of-sorts performance for Italy, who’s defense of its title ends in the first knockout game of the tournament. Italy’s defeat means that the reigning champion has been eliminated in the round of 16 at the last three Euros.

He’s going to be a killer rebounder, monster screener and will consistently establish his position even against some of the stronger NBA players. I’m done doubting Edey, even as an NBA player. As an enormous ballhandler with serious touch and incredible vision as a passer, Topić is clearly an NBA player, even if it doesn’t all translate. Shannon is an elite athlete, but the NBA game requires more nuance, especially if he continues to be an inconsistent shooter. However, I also think he’s more than just a floor spacer on offense in spot-up situations and potentially as an off-ball scorer.

An Airbus A340-300 and an Airbus A 321-100 belonging to Lufthansa are parked on the airport apron. German airline firm Lufthansa Group said Tuesday that it would add an "environmental cost surcharge" to ticket prices as soon as this week, which could be as high as 72 euros ($77) for some flights. "The surcharge is intended to cover part of the steadily rising additional costs due to regulatory environmental requirements," Lufthansa said in a statement, pointing to regulations from the European Union and International Civil Aviation Organization. All flights sold or operated by Lufthansa Group, which owns airlines including Lufthansa, Eurowings, Swiss and Edelweiss Air and Austrian Airlines, will be subject to the charge. The fee will be applied to all tickets issued from June 26 — Wednesday this week — that are for flights departing from Jan. 1, 2025, Lufthansa said.
