CNN —Germany is marking its first Veterans’ Day since World War Two on Saturday, a once unthinkable move that sets aside long-standing unease over the honoring of its soldiers. “We on the left reject this Veterans’ Day,” he told CNN in a statement. The commemorations, modeled on Armed Forces Day in the UK and Veterans Day in the US, will honor all Germans who have worn military uniform – not only those wounded or killed in combat. But the biggest spur to creating a Veterans’ Day has been Ukraine. He played a prominent role in forming the new Veterans’ Day bill.

The 2-year Treasury yield was last at 4.8444% after rising by around one basis point. U.S. Treasury yields were little changed on Wednesday as investors awaited the latest Federal Reserve interest rate decision and policy guidance, and looked to key inflation data. Policymakers have frequently said that they would not cut interest rates until they are confident that inflation is sustainably toward this target. The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged on Wednesday as its latest meeting concludes. But investors will be closely watching the central bank's guidance and the post-meeting press conference for fresh clues about what the path ahead for interest rates could look like.

Atos said it would go ahead with a proposal by major shareholder David Layani, whose IT firm Onepoint held around 11% of Atos' share capital and voting rights as of December 2023 according to its website. The deal will nevertheless lead to a "massive dilution" of existing shareholders, who are set to hold less than 0.1% of share capital once it is completed, Atos said. Atos said Layani's deal included a stronger capital structure and provided the firm with enough financial liquidity to stay in business. U.S. Treasury yields fell Tuesday as the Federal Reserve meeting is set to begin, with investors awaiting the central bank's monetary policy decision and key economic data. The June Federal Reserve meeting is set to begin Tuesday, before concluding with the central bank's latest interest rate decision and policy guidance on Wednesday. Investors will therefore also be closely following economic projections released by the Fed on Wednesday alongside its interest rate decision.

An Airbus Wingman air combat drone stands on display at the 2024 ILA Berlin Air Show on June 05, 2024 in Schoenefeld, Germany. Airbus this week revealed the concept for a new fighter-type drone, called Wingman, and showcased a model of it at Berlin's massive ILA Air Show. The drone would be an "unmanned escort for manned fighter jets," Airbus said in a statement, noting that it is designed to operate in a similar way to an actual wingman. In aviation, a wingman is a pilot in a secondary aircraft that supports and protects the primary one. The drone, which can be commanded by fighter jet pilots, can be deployed on riskier missions which could post a threat to manned aircraft.
