U.S. crude oil held above $80 per barrel on Tuesday, after starting the week with strong gains. In a note to clients, Bob Yawger, executive director of energy futures at Mizuho Securities, cautioned that the rally in energy prices may largely be speculators covering short positions. Yesterday was the exception that proved the rule," Tamas Varga, an analyst with oil broker PVM, wrote in a note Tuesday. Oil prices had recently declined partly because of a decision by OPEC+ members to start rolling barrels back onto the market in the fourth quarter. Now oil is rising as analysts see the market tightening in the third quarter on expectations that summer fuel demand will draw down inventories.

The stock price is stalling near resistance around the $128 price level and I have a bearish options trade to capitalize on it. To further confirm a bearish bias on EXPE, I am using 3 technical indicators in the chart below: RSI (Relative Strength Index): As a stock climbs up, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) gauges the strength of the trend. DMI (Directional Movement Index): When the DI+ (green line) is above DI- (red line), the stock is in an uptrend. The Trade Setup: A Bear Put Spread I am using a “bear put spread” as my trade structure here. Most trading platforms will offer a bear put spread (or long put spread) as a trade type and automatically construct the trade for you.

Opinion: Don’t focus on bracing for a Trump win

The article also cited an organization that is preemptively hiring a new auditor in case Trump were to direct the Internal Revenue Service to target the group during a second term. Trump is telling anyone who will listen what his dark goals are for a second term — from mass deportations to the construction of expansive detention camps for migrants to expanding his presidential power. Even the strategy detailed in Sunday’s New York Times article, which included using the courts to slow down a second-term Trump agenda, is far less likely to be successful this time. One reason for this is that in his first term, Trump was able to confirm more than 200 federal judges including three US Supreme Court justices that he personally appointed. That is why second-term resistance strategies only divert resources from the more pressing imperative at hand: keeping Trump from winning a second term.

Opponents of Donald J. Trump are drafting potential lawsuits in case he is elected in November and carries out mass deportations, as he has vowed. One group has hired a new auditor to withstand any attempt by a second Trump administration to unleash the Internal Revenue Service against them. Democratic-run state governments are even stockpiling abortion medication. “Trump has made clear that he’ll disregard the law and test the limits of our system,” said Joanna Lydgate, the chief executive of States United Democracy Center, a nonpartisan democracy watchdog organization that works with state officials in both parties. “What we’re staring down is extremely dark.”While the Supreme Court on Thursday rejected an attempt to nullify federal approval of the abortion pill mifepristone, liberals fear a new Trump administration could rescind the approval or use a 19th-century morality law to criminalize sending it across state lines.

Finding an affordable apartment in New York City has become ever more challenging for low-income people — and an expansion of key federal assistance isn't likely to help much. Ultimately, though, it will only issue 20,000 new vouchers, bringing the total number of vouchers up from about 96,000 to about 115,000, the New York City Housing Authority said. AdvertisementNew York City has the largest housing voucher program in the country, but it still falls far short of need. Discrimination against housing voucher holders by landlords is pervasive, even in places that prohibit it. Fully funding housing vouchers is key.

Representatives from the warring nations held peace talks in the early weeks of the Russian invasion. It was the only time that Ukrainian and Russian officials are known to have engaged in direct peace talks. This includes the Crimean Peninsula, which Mr. Putin annexed in 2014 in a swift operation that he considers central to his legacy. At another point, Russia’s lead negotiator, Mr. Medinsky, interrupted a video conference by claiming that Mr. Putin was phoning him directly. There were signs that Mr. Putin was micromanaging not only the Russian invasion but also the peace talks.

US designates Nordic neo-Nazi group as terrorists

CNN —The US State Department on Friday designated a Nordic neo-Nazi group and three of its top officials as terrorists. It’s the second time in history that the US has designated a foreign White supremacist organization and its leaders as terrorists. The department designated the Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) and three of its top officials – Tor Fredrik Vejdeland, Pär Öberg, and Leif Robert Eklund – as Specially Designated Global Terrorists on Friday, according to a statement from spokesperson Matthew Miller. The Trump administration in 2020 designated the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) and its leaders as Specially Designated Global Terrorists. NRM is a transnational neo-Nazi organization founded in Sweden in 1997, with branches in Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland, according to the State Department.

Apple just formed a bullish golden cross chart pattern

The maker of iPhones and iPads has formed a "golden cross," a technical indicator signaling when a stock's moving average over the last 50 days rises above the same moving average tracking the last 200 days. It's the first time since March that Apple's 50-day moving average trades above its 200-day counterpart. Despite the outperformance, Apple shares have advanced less than 11% this year, underperforming both the broad S & P 500 and technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite . While the golden cross can indicate upside momentum, Wall Street expects a correction ahead. “They’re both promising not to tackle the debt,” Ryan said, coming back to the issue that has animated his political career. Trump wants to extend all of the tax cuts, which could further explode the debt without corresponding spending cuts. When Trump and Republicans enacted the current tax structure, they made individual tax cuts temporary and most of the corporate tax cuts permanent. Biden has proposed additional taxes on those making more than $400,000 to address Medicare’s solvency, among other ideas, but does not have a detailed Social Security plan. The dirty little secret in all of this is, Medicare and Social Security are going insolvent on their own.

The streaming giant has been reaching out to broadcasters this week in the hopes of finding a partner to produce the NFL games it will air on Christmas Day this year, according to people familiar with the matter. Netflix will show two games on Christmas Day this year, followed by at least one matchup in both 2025 and 2026, the company announced last month. Unlike WWE, Netflix's deal for Christmas NFL games doesn't come with a full production team. The sanctions target foreign financial firms aiding Putin’s war effort, restrict Russian access to some US software and information technology.
