By granting control to only Lachlan, Murdoch is arguing in court, he is protecting the companies’ value – which then benefits all his heirs, according to The Times. He began learning the family business at a young age and rose quickly through the ranks. At the Summer Olympics, the USA team will also feature numerous Black athletes, including gymnast Simone Biles, sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson and the (current) fastest man on earth, Noah Lyles. As you watch the Olympics this summer, take note of the sports in which Black people represent the USA and European countries. So no, Black athletes are not naturally better at some sports — they take the narrower opportunities open to them and work incredibly hard on their self-belief to make it to that podium.

As of 2021, according to research by the Prison Policy Initiative, they've paid an average of $3 for a 15-minute phone call. The new rules will force a business model change for correctional telecommunications companies as they contend with an estimated $500 million loss in revenue, according to Worth Rises. Only five states have passed legislation to make jail phone calls free, according to Prison Legal News. Wanda Bertram, a communications strategist for the Prison Policy Initiative, said prisons tend to negotiate better contracts with telecommunications companies and, therefore, tend to have better rates for prisoners.

Independents and movable voters: Harris split political independents about evenly with Trump, 43% said they supported her and 40% Trump. Biden, however, trailed Trump by 10 points among that same group of independent voters, 44% Trump to 34% Biden. While these voters split 39% Trump to 37% Biden, Harris had considerably more support with this group, which broke in her favor 47% Harris to 34% Trump. Among women of color, Harris outperformed Biden by 10 points: 63% of women of color said they backed Harris over Trump, compared with 53% who said the same about Biden. Among voters younger than 35, 42% backed Harris to 41% for Trump, compared with 47% Trump to 41% Biden among that same group.

Vice President Kamala Harris received President Joe Biden's backing to take his place as the Democratic presidential nominee Sunday, an endorsement he made after announcing he is abandoning his re-election bid. Biden's decision to bow out breaks open the nominating process — meaning Harris or any other Democrat could seek the party's nomination. The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to begin August 19 in Chicago and with Biden's backing, Harris became the instant favorite. Harris, the first female vice president, would become the first Black woman and first person of South Asian descent to become a major party nominee. "We are ready to lock in and support Vice President Harris in her new role," Gavito said.

London, England CNN —The US men’s basketball team fought back from a double-digit deficit to edge past South Sudan 101-100 in a dramatic pre-Olympic friendly in London, England on Saturday. Despite its star power, Team USA has occasionally flattered to deceive recently and has looked unconvincing at times in victory. South Sudan, the world’s youngest country, is preparing to make its Olympic debut and defeated Great Britain in a friendly game on Thursday.
