SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A Northern California judge is under investigation by a state agency for allegedly making antisemitic remarks when addressing a deputy public defender, failing to recuse himself from cases involving attorneys and other people he socialized with, sexually harassing women, and other ethical violations. Humboldt County Superior Court Judge Gregory Kreis was notified last week he is charged with 19 ethical violations going back to 2015. It is among the allegations outlined by the Commission on Judicial Performance that are now under investigation. The commission noted Kreis allegedly lied to the court's presiding judge who was investigating rumors Kreis was having an affair with a court employee. “I can tell you that we had witnesses who will contradict the allegations the Commission on Judicial Performance set forth in the notice of formal proceedings,” he added.

His death was confirmed by his son, Dan Post, who said his father had died of heart failure in a senior living community. Mr. Post led the bakery plant that developed the first Pop-Tarts for Kellogg’s in 1964, his son said. The snack quickly became a popular treat for many people in the United States, including Mr. Post’s children, who were among the first taste testers. “Jimmy” Van Eaton, a pioneering rock ‘n’ roll drummer who played behind the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis and Billy Lee Riley at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee, died Friday at age 86, a family member said. “The one exception was JM Van Eaton.”Van Eaton became a core of musicians that performed at Sun through the 1950s, the newspaper reported. CNN —A jury has awarded climate scientist Michael Mann more than $1 million in a defamation lawsuit he brought against a former scholar and a media personality who lampooned Mann’s work. A jury in the Washington, DC, Superior Court civil case awarded Mann $1 million in punitive damages and a dollar from each defendant in compensatory damages. Mann had also sued the National Review and Competitive Enterprise Institute. Mann intends to appeal that 2021 decision, which said the Competitive Enterprise Institute and National Review could not be held liable for defamation, according to multiple reports. However, Mann’s is the latest in a recent string of defamation trial victories for plaintiffs or large settlements – most notably including E. The Snapchat company let go of several dozen staffers on Friday, according to two people familiar with the company. Many Snap employees took the memo as a hint that more company changes were coming. Staffers have been "on pins and needles" about layoffs in recent weeks, according to one of the people familiar with the company. In September, Snap let go of about 150 people after shutting down a short-lived division for creating augmented reality tools for businesses. Evercore senior managing director Mark Mahaney said in mid-January that "Snap has yet to snap back."
