When Mark Cuban launched his first tech startup, he couldn't have known he'd end up a billionaire today. He was confident, though, that his sales pitch for the company — a software startup called MicroSolutions — would work. In the proposal, Cuban wrote that his tool would be a great resource for attorneys looking to streamline their workflow — by having information "immediately published electronically to the organization," as opposed to using notebooks. Basically, it was our version of Slack long before Slack," Cuban wrote in a follow-up post. A year after sending his pitch to the law firm, Cuban sold MicroSolutions to now-defunct internet services company CompuServe for $6 million.

India then returned to lay bare Pakistan's bowling frailties and romped home with nearly 20 overs to spare in the lop-sided blockbuster. "I just think we were a little bit timid tonight with our overall performance," Arthur told reporters after the match. "Credit to India, I thought they bowled really well, but I just thought our performance was just a little bit timid." "I did think we could probably have taken on the Indian spinners just a little bit more...But again, they were building and building nicely. "I think we've got to realise that there are two ways to always skin a cat.

Bonds are starting to make a lot of sense for investors, Forrest said. Even after pulling back somewhat from those levels, the benchmark yield remains within striking distance of the key 5% threshold. The potential unwinding of what BofA recently called the "greatest bond bear market in history" has more investors trying to lock in higher yields ahead of potential rate cuts next year from the Federal Reserve. Valieva tested positive for the banned substance trimetazidine in December, 2021, but the result was only revealed the day after she helped Russia win the team gold at the Beijing Olympics in February of 2022. "That would be really special and still having an Olympic moment at an Olympic Games," Chock said. "Our dream has been to stand on the podium and get the Olympic medal," Bates said. Even if he gets immense GOP congressional support to become speaker, Trump also appears like the very last person who'd even want the position. US President Donald Trump speaks in the Brady Briefing Room at the White House in Washington, DC on November 5, 2020. As a speaker but not a member of Congress, Trump would have literally no ability to vote on any pieces of legislation. Let's imagine, for a minute, that Trump's both interested in the position and can somehow manage to convince GOP members to take McCarthy's spot.

Sequoia Capital managing partner Roelof Botha has a strategy for making tough decisions. He cited Dorsey's own payments business Block, where Botha sits on the company's board, as an example. The company officially launched Square Cash, now known as Cash App, in October 2013. Block now has a market cap of $26.82 billion, as of Wednesday afternoon, and Cash App is responsible for half of its revenue, Botha said. Tech millionaire Bryan Johnson has made headlines for spending millions to try to age backwards. It'd be ironic if he died in an accident, and he knows it — and drives like it, according to a new TIME profile. Johnson says a mantra before he drives and at one point went 16 mph on the streets of LA, per TIME. Johnson told TIME that data compiled by his doctors suggests he has the bones of a 30-year-old and the heart of a 37-year-old, but doctors remain skeptical of his methods and results. Of course, that's not stopping Johnson from trying — even if it means occasionally getting honked at by impatient drivers.

[1/6] U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) speaks with reporters as he arrives for the day at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, U.S. September 18, 2023. Republicans hold a 221-212 majority in the House that leaves McCarthy with little room to maneuver as he contends with opposition to the spending legislation from a small group of hardline conservatives. "The Republican House is failing the American people again and pursuing a path of gamesmanship and circus," Republican Representative Victoria Spartz said in a statement. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat, called the House Republican CR agreement "slapdash and reckless," adding that a bipartisan continuing resolution is "the only answer for avoiding a government shutdown." Unless the House can move forward on spending, Republican leaders said privately that they could be forced to move directly into negotiations with Senate Democrats on appropriations bills, circumventing hardliners.

U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) addresses the 5th annual Congressional Hackathon on Capitol Hill in Washington, U.S., September 14, 2023. But hardline activism on spending, policy and impeachment have split Republicans in the House and slowed the Senate's path forward on approving bipartisan spending legislation. House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries warned on Sunday that the situation amounts to a Republican "civil war." Unless the House can move forward on spending, Republican leaders say privately that they could be forced to move directly into negotiations with Senate Democrats on appropriations bills, circumventing hardliners. Other House Republicans fear that McCarthy's decision to open an impeachment inquiry of Biden could make it harder to gain cooperation on spending from Democrats.

This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Alexander Nguyen, a software engineer who moved from New York City to Seattle for a job at Amazon. It was his first job out of college, and he says it was the loneliest time of his life. Finally, after a three-month job search, things started looking up: I received a software-development-engineering job offer from Amazon in 2020. Back when I got the job at Amazon, all I was thinking about was my tech career and the $150,000 salary. Looking back now, I realize perhaps I should have looked a little bit harder for opportunities in New York before taking the first tech job that came my way.
