CNN —Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the emerging ceasefire deal with Hezbollah “in principle” during a security consultation with Israeli officials Sunday night, a source familiar with the matter said. Israel still has reservations over some details of the agreement, which were expected to be transmitted to the Lebanese government on Monday, the source said. Those and other details are still being negotiated and multiple sources stressed that the agreement will not be final until all issues are resolved. A ceasefire agreement will also need to be approved by the Israeli cabinet, which has not yet occurred. Israel launched a major military offensive in Lebanon in mid-September following months of tit-for-tat border attacks which started on October 8 last year when Hezbollah attacked Israeli controlled territory in solidarity with Hamas and Palestinians in Gaza.

He told BI he views them more as a negotiation tactic with China and American companies with operations there. Still, some experts told BI they foresee obstacles to making it a reality . Sector experts told BI the massive chipmaker will continue to make its most advanced tech in Taiwan .

Rethinking the 4% rule in retirement
  + stars: | 2024-11-25 | by ( Jeanne Sahadi | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
The most commonly recommended rule of thumb is the so-called 4% rule, which means you spend 4% of your portfolio every year, on an inflation-adjusted basis. When you die, your nest egg could be almost as large if not larger than it was on your first day of retirement. For example, Morningstar ran simulations on a $1 million portfolio over 30 years using the 4% rule. That’s because the rule is based on a very high probability that you never exhaust your nest egg. “It’s not just about getting employees to retirement but (helping them figure out) what to do once they’re in retirement,” Williams said.

CNN —Despite his campaign promises to leave the issue to the states, President-elect Donald Trump’s administration will shape the national landscape around abortion and reproductive health. And his administration may also be forced to choose whether to pursue other changes, such as how the abortion drug mifepristone is regulated. “Back in April, President Trump made clear that he thinks abortion policy should be left to the states,” Kniffin said. For months leading up to that moment, tens of thousands of Russians protested as Mr. Putin prepared to return to the Kremlin following four years in a shadow role as prime minister. The day before Mr. Putin was inaugurated in May, the police violently cracked down on a mass protest. When Mr. Putin drove through a Moscow cleared of any signs of life, and through the Kremlin gates, the protest movement was effectively dead. As this fact settled in, opposition-minded Russians flooded social media, recalling just how young they were when Mr. Putin first headed the state more than 12 years prior — some remembered their college days, others elementary school. The United States is not Russia, and Mr. Trump is not Mr. Putin.

CNN —Where the high hills of the occupied West Bank tumble into the Jordan valley, half a dozen heavy Israeli diggers pound the ancient rocks around the Palestinian village of Bardala. Such evictions are common in the West Bank, according to the United Nations. During a visit to Israel in 2017, the former governor of Arkansas told reporters: “There is no such thing as a West Bank. The eviction notice Israeli officials handed to a Palestinian farmer near the village of Bardala in the occupied West Bank, ordering him to leave his land. The hard reality in Bardala, as elsewhere in the occupied West Bank, is that even before Trump’s approaching inauguration, the Palestinian state had become a distant dream.
