draft is a pinnacle for many players, most of whom have dreamed for years of hearing their names called by Commissioner Roger Goodell in front of millions of TV viewers. But in 2020, as players celebrated reaching the professional ranks, the broadcast zoomed in on their personal tragedies. Viewers learned, for example, that the sister of receiver Jerry Jeudy, whom the Denver Broncos selected 15th overall, had died while he was in high school. The package introducing Michael Pittman Jr., a receiver taken 34th by the Indianapolis Colts, revealed his stutter. Trevon Diggs, a cornerback picked 51st by the Dallas Cowboys, was noted to have lost his father to heart failure in 2008.
"I never saw myself as a speaker, let alone a motivational speaker," Leonard tells me while his assistant irons his jeans. 'When I ramble," Hunter told me, "hit me in the leg!" Every plane had been grounded, including the one stuck on the tarmac with an increasingly inebriated Hunter Thompson trapped inside. But by far the most all-consuming task was booking gigs for Hunter Thompson. Just before a debate with G. Gordon Liddy at Brown University, Hunter demanded that Betsy Berg, whom I now worked alongside at GTN, score him some crystal meth.

Once the Harris group submits its deal, the sale would have to be approved by the league’s finance committee and by at least three-quarters of the 31 other team owners, which could occur within weeks. Harris’s group includes Mitchell Rales, a billionaire from the Washington, D.C., area, and a group of limited partners that includes Magic Johnson. The owners will next meet in person as a group in Minneapolis on May 22 and 23. Last June, the Walton family, founders of Walmart, bought the Denver Broncos for $4.65 billion, about twice as much as the previous record high for an N.F.L.
The Washington Commanders are nearing a sale to an ownership group led by Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils Owner Josh Harris at just under $6 billion, a person familiar with the deal told CNBC. Harris' ownership group includes Washington D.C.-based billionaire Mitchell Rales and NBA legend Magic Johnson. Amazon founder and Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos was exploring the sale process, but decided not to make an offer, according to ESPN. For Commanders fans and former employees, progress in the sale process is welcome news. Commanders owner Dan Snyder announced in November of 2022, that he was putting the Commanders up for sale.

If finalized, the sale would mark the end of the controversial ownership of the Washington franchise by embattled billionaire Daniel Snyder. News of the near deal was first reported by Sportico, which reported the team sold for $6 billion, a record for a North American sports franchise. Snyder purchased the team, then named the Washington Redskins for a reported $750 million in 1999. It adopted the Commanders name last year, after playing two seasons with the name Washington Football Team. “Today marks the end of a long, difficult chapter for all employees and fans of the Washington football organization,” read a statement from Lisa Banks and Debra Katz, two attorneys representing more than 40 former Washington Commanders employees.

In 2021, she started a side hustle on the car-rental app hoping to earn passive income. Last year, she earned $76,620 in passive income from her fleet of seven cars. Much of her earnings are passive income because renting out her cars does not require significant ongoing time commitments. U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni ruled that the NFL, the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Houston Texans must face Flores' claims of systematic discrimination against Black coaches in the league. Caproni sent Flores' retaliation claim against the Dolphins to private arbitration, along with claims by two other coaches who joined Flores in the suit. Lawyers for the NFL and representatives of the other teams did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The NFL has denied claims of racial discrimination and said it is committed to diversity and equitable employment practices. The league has argued the case should be dismissed because the claims lacked merit, or be sent to arbitration pursuant to the coaches' employment contracts.

Scott Berman, owner of Sky Cave Retreats, told ESPN that Rodgers' repose was spent in a 300-square-foot room that is devoid of natural light. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft told Fox Business that Jeff Bezos would be a "great owner." Bezos repeatedly has been mentioned as a possible buyer of the Washington Commanders. However, Commanders owner Dan Snyder reportedly is waiting for bids to cross the $7 billion mark. Also complicating a potential Bezos bid are reports that Snyder is opposed to selling the team to the man who owns the Washington Post. People close to Bezos have denied New York Post reports claiming that he could potentially sell the Washington Post in order to buy the Commanders.

DETROIT – Ford Motor's new U.S. vehicle sales started 2023 on stronger footing than a year earlier, but were down 18.4% from December. The automotive industry continues to navigate through some supply chain and production issues, although the flow of parts and vehicle production this year is expected to be more consistent than in recent years. For January, Ford reported a 2% increase in sales from a year earlier to 146,356 vehicles sold. The uptick was led by sales increases of 8.8% for F-Series pickups, 25.5% for Broncos, and 52% for Bronco Sport SUVs — as well as a doubling of its electric vehicle sales, which have been and remain minimal. Some of the automaker's crossovers such as the Ford Edge and Escape experienced double-digit declines from a year earlier.

CNN —Not that long ago, cars from the 1990s were just used cars. In addition to insuring collectible cars, Hagerty also owns the auction company Broad Arrow. Values for 1990s-era collectible cars have risen by an average of 78% over the past three years, “which is huge,” Rabold said. Cars from the ’90s have at least some modern comfort and safety features, and even relatively inexpensive cars can have respectable power and performance. We’re talking about “collectible” cars.
