Airbus nine-month deliveries reach 437 jets

PARIS, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Airbus deliveries sped up in September, bringing the number of jets supplied so far this year to 437 and leaving the European planemaker what one analyst called a manageable task in the traditionally busy fourth quarter, despite supply chains snags. Airbus SE (AIR.PA) said it had handed over 55 aircraft during the month, in line with a forecast published by Bloomberg News. Adjusting for the cancellation of two planes that Airbus reported delivered in 2021, but which remained in Toulouse only to be overtaken by sanctions following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Airbus has delivered 435 jets so far this year. Deliveries are traditionally skewed towards the last quarter. China Southern Airlines places order for 40 Airbus jets

Airbus confirms cancellation of remaining Qatar A350 orders

Sept 8 (Reuters) - Airbus (AIR.PA) on Thursday confirmed it had revoked all remaining A350 orders from Qatar Airways, raising the stakes in a safety and contractual dispute with the Gulf carrier. "Airbus confirms that it has removed 19 Qatar Airways A350s from the backlog," a spokesperson said. Qatar Airways had no immediate comment. Airbus said it had booked orders for 843 jets between January and August, or a net total of 637 after cancellations including routine order reversals by customers and the aircraft withheld from Qatar by Airbus. It delivered 382 jets over the same period, or a net total of 380 after deducting two A350 aircraft built for Aeroflot but impossible to deliver due to sanctions.

Russian airlines have almost 780 leased jets, with 515 leased from abroad. Lawyers say a three-way legal battle between airlines, lessors and insurers could last for a decade. Major Russian airlines Aeroflot and S7 also declined comment. The Russian Federal Aviation Agency said 776 planes were registered abroad as of Feb. 24, the day Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia's state aviation authority recommended last week that airlines with foreign-leased aircraft suspend flights abroad, making it harder for lessors to make repossessions.
Boeing's production plans shift and are influenced by many factors, the people cautioned. Suppliers are grappling with labor and materials shortages and weakened balance sheets following the overlapping pandemic and 737 MAX safety grounding crises. Boeing said in late January it was working to clear an inventory of 335 737 MAX airplanes amassed following two fatal crashes of the jet that grounded the plane for 20 months. Boeing declined to comment on its production plans and referred to its last public statements. A rate of 47 aircraft per month is five shy of its build rate in 2019, when the 737 MAX was grounded.
