WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Biden administration at least in the short term to enforce its latest attempt to curb climate-harming carbon emissions from coal- and gas-fired power plants that contribute to climate change. The Supreme Court is often skeptical of major agency actions but it has bucked that reputation in recent weeks. Under the proposed rule, the EPA wants to require “carbon capture,” a technique that uses solvents to remove carbon dioxide from a power plant’s emissions. The appeals court in July declined to block the regulation, saying the major questions doctrine did not apply on this occasion. In court papers, the challengers sought to portray the new regulation as being essentially the same as the one the Supreme Court struck down.

Nearly one-third of the cameras in the Border Patrol’s primary surveillance system along the southern U.S. border are not working, according to an internal agency memo sent in early October, depriving border agents of a crucial tool in combating illegal migrant crossings. A 68.7% majority of skills were "very unlikely" or "unlikely" to be replaced by AI, while 28.5% of skills may "potentially" be replaceable. Indeed's report examined soft skills like communication, leadership and organization, more technical skills including specific coding languages, and hands-on skills such as cooking and administering medication. Still, workers shouldn't shy away from certain career paths that are more susceptible to being replaced by AI, according to Gudell. "It's really all about using these tools to your maximum advantage when you're searching for a job," Gudell says.
