CNN —Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has been found guilty of an anti-doping violation by Switzerland’s Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and has received a four-year ban from competitions. In Beijing, Valieva’s Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) team had finished first ahead of the US and Japan – with Canada finishing fourth – and no medals were subsequently awarded due to the doping controversy. CNN Sport has contacted the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the ISU, the Japanese Olympic Committee, the Canadian Olympic Committee, and the Russian Olympic Committee for further comment. RUSADA had changed its initial stance and sought a punishment that “may include or be limited to a reprimand” for Valieva, CAS announced in February last year. Russian athletes were competing as neutral athletes at the Winter Olympics in Beijing due to a previous ban for doping non-compliance.

New York CNN —Bud Light brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev is becoming the first-ever beer sponsor for the next three Olympics and Paralympic Games — with a non-alcoholic brand taking the torch. The deal will cover the upcoming Summer Games in Paris, the Milan Winter Games in 2026, and the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, which will be the first Summer Olympics to be held in the US in about three decades. Prior to this, the Olympics never had a global beer sponsorship, but local organizing committees had enlisted beer brands in the past. “Beer and sports are better together, so we are proud to be the first beer sponsor for the Olympics at the Worldwide Olympic Partner level,” said AB InBev CEO Michel Doukeris in a statement. Global sales of non-alcoholic beer have been soaring in recent years as drinkers embrace moderation with alcohol.

American Homa is on debut in South Africa but has mastered a difficult course and dropped just a single shot in 54 holes to finish his third round on 13 under-par for the tournament. He leads France’s Matthieu Pavon by a single stroke after they had shared the top of the leaderboard overnight. Pavon (70) carded five birdies and a bogey in his first 14 holes, but back-to-back dropped shots on 15 and 16 allowed Homa to leapfrog him on the leaderboard. The American's only dropped shot in three days came on the par three fourth, and his consistency in hitting fairways and solid form with the putter were a feature of his play. England's Tommy Fleetwood, who has won the last two Nedbank Golf Challenge tournaments, could only manage a 71 on Saturday for a total of seven under-par, six shots off Homa.

LOS ANGELES, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he is eager to suit up for Team USA when flag football makes its Olympic debut at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. "I definitely want to but I've seen some of those guys play the flag football and they are a little faster than I am," Mahomes told reporters on Friday in Munich, where the Chiefs are set to play the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Flag football looks similar to tackle football, with passing and receiving, but requires little protective equipment, with play stopping when a defender pulls a cloth flag from the waist of an opponent. With the backing of the NFL it was among five sports added to the program for the 2028 Games alongside cricket, lacrosse, squash and baseball-softball.
