Would someone really pay $30 million for his Nevada ranch? David Clark wasn’t sure. But amid the rollicking luxury market, Mr. Clark said he agreed to list his 25-acre Washoe Valley property for that amount in August 2021. A similar retreat on Lake Tahoe could fetch multiples more, he reasoned. Plus, his land came with a roughly 18,000-square-foot mansion and multiple wells, ponds and outbuildings.

Having hosted the game for almost six centuries, “the home of golf” – as Scotland is known – was recognized as the World’s Best Golf Destination for the very first time at the ninth edition of the annual World Golf Awards in Abu Dhabi this week. Despite the dominance of its legendary St. Andrews Old Course in the World’s Best Golf Course category – with five successive wins after the award’s inception – Scotland had never been recognized as the sport’s best destination. The proptech sector is battling two challenges at once: a slowing housing market and a tech bust. For almost a decade, a growing group of companies have thrived by introducing tech innovations to a stubbornly analog real-estate industry. "Now we're seeing something that feels like a confluence between the 2001 dot-com bust in the venture-capital world and the 2008 market crash in real estate. Shares of both Opendoor and Redfin, which once drew investor attention to the soaring proptech industry, are worth roughly one-tenth what where they were a year ago. The company hasn't laid off any of its 300-person staff — including a roughly 50-person tech team — and doesn't plan to, Matthews said.

The cash and stock offer, valuing Yamana at around $4.8 billion, would see Agnico and Pan American split Yamana's mines between them. Yamana shareholders would receive $1.0406 in cash, 0.0376 of an Agnico Share and 0.1598 of a Pan American Share for each share held. South Africa's Gold Fields had agreed to take over Yamana in an all-stock deal valuing it at $6.7 billion in May. Gold Fields will update the market on the status of its bid after the weekend, a company spokesman said.
Trump has claimed that he declassified all the documents he took with him before he left office, but so far the aides who have testified before a grand jury have said they saw no evidence that Trump declassified anything. Patel's testimony is considered crucial to answering the question of whether Trump declassified any of the documents he took with him to his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago. Patel, however, claimed in an August interview with The Wall Street Journal that he had personally witnessed Trump verbally declassify documents. But when Patel was called later to testify before the grand jury in October, he reportedly did not make the same assertions. In a case that hinges on whether Trump mishandled state secrets, the question of whether the documents marked classified were in fact state secrets is pivotal.

It's a mutually beneficial way for Hirsch and his employees to build closer relationships with each other and uncover "some incredible new ideas" for the billion-dollar company, Hirsch tells CNBC Make It. I now have all these friends out there that actually want to work here, work together and get our job done," he adds. His only conversational rule on those walks: It "can never start with work," he says. The "work" portion only comes when Marsh decides to "softball ideas" with Hirsch for what her research team can do next. The walks allow him and his employees to get closer without undermining their workplace respect for each other, he adds.
