LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's attorney general is investigating six Republican electors who submitted a document to Congress falsely declaring Donald Trump the winner of the 2020 presidential election, a person with knowledge of the case said Wednesday. But the probe adds to official scrutiny of so-called fake electors in several swing states won by President Joe Biden in 2020, including investigations in Georgia, Michigan and Arizona. So-called “fake electors” were charged in Georgia and Michigan, and Trump faces charges both in Georgia and in a federal investigation of his conduct related to the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. He told the Democratic Attorneys General Association last January he feared that making any comment would be seen as partisan. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A former Indiana lawmaker has agreed to plead guilty to a federal charge alleging that he accepted promises of lucrative employment from a gaming company during his time in public office, federal prosecutors said Friday. Sean Eberhart, 57, agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, according to court documents filed Thursday. The former Republican state representative represented central Indiana's House District 57 for 16 years before leaving office in November 2022. In 2022, longtime casino executive John Keeler was sentenced along with a former Indiana state senator, Brent Waltz, for their role in the illegal funneling of gambling money into the lawmaker's unsuccessful 2016 bid for congress. Keeler, who was a Republican legislator for 16 years in the 1980s and 1990s, was sentenced to two months in federal prison and fined $55,000.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A 33-year-old Democrat will soon be the youngest senator in the South Carolina Senate. State Rep. Deon Tedder won a special election for the open Senate seat on Tuesday, picking up more than 81% of the votes to defeat Republican Rosa Kay, according to results compiled by the South Carolina Election Commission. Tedder will be sworn in when the Senate's regular session begins in January and at 33, he will be the youngest senator by nearly five years. Gillard had received 47% of the vote in the primary, but South Carolina requires a majority to win the nomination. Tedder won 39%.

The three state court judges sided with Nashville officials who sued, ruling that the law targeted Nashville alone and didn't include the local involvement required under the Tennessee Constitution's home rule protections. The ruling ousts the new Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority board, which awarded six of eight appointments to state officials and two to the mayor. The decision marks another win in court for Nashville officials over the slate of state restrictions passed this year to limit their authority. The new airport law, which brought on changes to the board on July 1, quickly created confusion.
