Calavo Growers advanced around 12% after the rival producer reported adjusted earnings of 57 cents per share in its fiscal third quarter. Discussing the US southern border, Trump asserted that “more terrorists have come into the United States in the last three years. In fact, there have been no reported terrorist attacks in the US during the past three years carried out by jihadist terrorists crossing the southern border. The ordinarily voluble Trump typically doesn’t have much to say when far-right domestic terrorists perpetrate terrorism in the United States. To be sure, there are reasonable concerns about the southern border, like the fact that, as CNN reported in June, eight Tajikistan nationals in the US who had crossed the southern border were arrested on immigration charges “following the discovery of potential ties to terrorism,” including possibly to ISIS. This is all a far cry from Trump’s claim on Fox that “more terrorists have come into the United States in the last three years.

U.S. passenger airlines have added nearly 194,000 jobs since 2021 as companies went on a hiring spree after spending months in a pandemic slump, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation. It’s a departure from the previous years when airlines couldn’t hire employees fast enough. The team pieced together several factors that indicated the shark had been eaten and the tag excreted by a larger predator that gobbled up the shark, Anderson said. Unusual suspectsPorbeagles belong to a family called lamnid sharks, which also includes great white sharks and mako sharks. A tropical storm watch has been raised for Hawaii’s Big Island with the storm on track to pass close to the state this weekend. The storm is forecast to pass about 150 miles south of the Big Island late Saturday into Sunday morning. CNN —The Russian border region of Belgorod declared an emergency on Wednesday after new attacks by Ukrainian forces, with Kyiv claiming control of hundreds of square miles of Russian territory after its rare cross-border incursion. “The situation in the Belgorod region continues to be extremely difficult and tense,” Belgorod Gov. The declaration came after Belgorod began evacuations on Monday as a result of Ukrainian advances, following Kyiv’s surprise incursion into the neighboring Kursk region last week. It was a notable change in tactics for Ukraine and marked the first time foreign troops had entered Russian territory since World War II. Activist investor Elliott Management is preparing to launch a proxy fight at Southwest Airlines , and intends to nominate as many as 10 directors to the company's 15-person board, according to a person familiar with the matter. Elliott plans to call a special meeting, rather than waiting for the company's annual shareholder meeting, the person said. Elliott needs to own at least 10% of the company in order to call a special meeting, under Southwest's bylaws, a threshold that it will likely cross soon. Southwest rebuffed those requests, and CEO Jordan since told CNBC that Elliott's engagement with the company had not been meaningful. The activist had already intimated that it would seek to call for a special meeting in its second letter to Southwest's board.

Seven people ages 20 to 51 were charged with criminal damage and violent disorder, the police said in a statement. One man, age 22, was also charged with assault.
