CNN —Archaeologists in Denmark have unearthed more than 50 “exceptionally well preserved” skeletons in a large Viking-era burial ground in the east of the country. The skeletons were buried alongside artifacts from far beyond Denmark’s borders, suggesting Vikings traveled extensively for trade, according to the team from the museum. Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina over the weekend, leaving behind a trail of death and devastation. After the northern bald ibis disappeared from Europe more than 300 years ago, some assumed that 16th century drawings of its gleaming plume and long, arching beak were works of the imagination. Today, tenacious conservation efforts in Morocco have increased the population to more than 500 individuals, resulting in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species changing its status from critically endangered to endangered in 2018. In addition, thanks to a first-of-its-kind reintroduction program, the ibises are back migrating in Europe for the first time since the 1600s, with a managed migratory population of around 270 birds.

Brent crude futures for November delivery increased 16 cents, or 0.22%, to $72.14 a barrel as of 0043 GMT. That contract expires on Monday and the more-active contract for December delivery gained 10 cents, or 0.14%, to $71.64. "The recent escalation of attacks in the Middle East is increasing the likelihood of Iran being directly dragged into the conflict, putting a significant risk around supply disruptions at the OPEC producer," ANZ Research said in a note.

CNN —First Rihanna’s bathrobe, now Gigi Hadid’s DHL tape dress — it seems that luxury fashion is looking right under our noses (or at least inside our houses) for inspiration. On Friday, Hadid walked in the Vetements show during Paris Fashion Week wrapped tightly in a roll of yellow and red DHL-branded packing tape. The adhesive tool was styled into a strapless mini dress, while two heeled pumps were wrapped in the same tape to match. The tape dress was paired with two heeled pumps similarly covered in the branded adhesive. In 2011, Iowa State University staged its first annual duct tape fashion show — covered by the New York Times — only permitting designs that were made entirely from the hardware store staple.
