London CNN —Baby Boomers may be expected to live longer than their predecessors, but a recent study has found that they are more likely to suffer from worse health than previous generations. It covered several generations, including the Greatest Generation (born before 1925) and Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1959), according to the study. Younger post-war cohorts, like Generation X, are also at risk of worse health than the generation preceding them, Gimeno said. “Generation X were more likely to be obese, have diabetes, and be in poor mental health than Baby Boomers in their 40s,” said Gimeno. The analysis of 135,000 people living in England suggested that although they’re living longer, their lives weren’t necessarily healthier.

CNN —A third farmworker has tested positive for bird flu in California, according to the state’s health department. Like the first two human cases in California, this third case is a farmworker who was in contact with sick dairy cattle. The CDC’s Principal Deputy Director, Dr. Nirav Shah, said in a news briefing on Friday that these cases were not a surprise. The California Department of Food and Agriculture has been conducting bulk milk tank sampling in areas where herds test positive. The first infected herds in California were found in late August.

U.S. health officials are preparing to screen passengers flying in from Rwanda for symptoms of Marburg virus, a severe infection similar to Ebola. People infected by the virus can start showing symptoms two to 21 days after their exposure, according to the CDC. Marburg is a virus that causes hemorrhagic fevers and internal bleeding, much like Ebola. No Marburg cases have been detected in the U.S. As of Sunday, Rwandan health officials had reported 49 cases, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Also Monday, the CDC issued what’s known as a level 3 travel health notice, warning people against unnecessary travel to Rwanda.

CNN —Amid an outbreak of Marburg virus in Rwanda, travelers coming into the United States who have been in Rwanda in the previous 21 days will be screened starting next week, the US Department of Health and Human Services announced Monday. There are no confirmed cases of Marburg virus disease – a rare but deadly hemorrhagic disease similar to Ebola – outside Rwanda, and officials have said that the current risk to the US is low. The CDC is also issuing a Level 3 Travel Health Notice, recommending that people reconsider nonessential travel to Rwanda, and sending automated texts to air travelers arriving from Rwanda to share information and instructions. As of Monday, there have been 56 confirmed cases of Marburg in Rwanda, with 36 people in isolation and treatment, and 12 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health. The CDC and the World Health Organization have deployed teams of experts to Rwanda to provide guidance and assistance to public health workers there.

Meta is partnering with banks to identify scam accounts. Meta says the collaboration led to the removal of 20,000 scam accounts in the UK alone. So Meta launched a new program that allows banks to "share intelligence" directly with the social media conglomerate to more efficiently combat scams. The U.S. has added two new Chinese companies to a Xinjiang trade blacklist over forced labor accusations. The Department of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday that a Chinese steel manufacturer and an artificial sweetener maker would be placed on the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List. The list, which now includes 75 entities, bans imports that are made in full or in part in China's Xinjiang Uyghur Region, based on the assumption that forced labor of China's Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities was used in their manufacturing. U.K. financial regulators hit British digital lender Starling Bank with a £29 million ($38.5 million) fine over failings related to its financial crime prevention systems. In a statement on Wednesday, London's Financial Conduct Authority said it had fined Starling "for financial crime failings related to its financial sanctions screening." Minna Technologies, which is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, develops technology that helps consumers manage subscriptions within their banking apps and websites, regardless of which payment method they used for their subscriptions. The company said it works with some of the world's largest financial institutions in the world today. Consumers today often have tons of subscriptions to manage across multiple services such as Netflix, Amazon and Disney Plus.
