Harrods, London's upmarket department store, sells a Wagyu beef sandwich for £28 ($35.) Simply called the "Wagyu Steak Sandwich," the new addition to the menu at Harrods in Knightsbridge contains strips of Wagyu beef fillet along with accompanied by porcini and truffle butter, gold mustard mayo, large portobello mushrooms, arugula, and beer- braised onions. The Harrods deli counter where you can purchase the Wagyu sandwich. High-grade marbled Wagyu beef is a delicacy typically imported from Japan and can cost anywhere between $120 and $300 per pound. To its credit, and to be expected when it packs a whopping 1,040 calories, the Harrods sandwich was a generous size and I was definitely full by the end.

CarMax in 2021 launched nationally an online tool that provides instant offers to car owners for their vehicles. Photo: Mark Felix/Bloomberg NewsDuring the pandemic, auto dealers rushed to buy used cars off the street as vehicle production declined amid supply-chain shortages. They also have bolstered dealers’ profit margins while allowing some to cut prices, as the vehicles they purchase directly from consumers are often cheaper. Inventory pressures have eased in recent months, but dealers continue to focus on street purchases because they are more lucrative than buying cars at wholesale auctions, where dealers bid up prices and pay fees and transportation costs. A street purchase is different from a trade-in, where dealers purchase a car at the same time they sell a new one.

Oil futures traded steady ahead of next week's OPEC+ meeting, which could bring some kind of agreement on output cuts in 2024. Formula One trials AI to tackle track limits breaches

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsABU DHABI, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Formula One's governing body is trialling artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle track limits breaches at this weekend's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Paris-based FIA said it would be using 'Computer Vision' technology that uses shape analysis to work out the number of pixels going past the track edge. By the title-deciding Qatar weekend in October there were eight people assigned to assess track limits and monitor 820 corner passes, with 141 reports sent to race control who then deleted 51 laps. Stewards said this month that their inability to properly enforce track limits violations at turn six was "completely unsatisfactory" and a solution needed to be found before the start of next season. Malyon said the extra Computer Vision layer would reduce the number of potential infringements being considered by the ROC, with still fewer then going on to race control for further action.

Goldman Sachs researchers are projecting oil prices to jump nearly 20% next year. AdvertisementAs the holiday season approaches, drivers are experiencing a welcome respite at gas stations, but those savings will likely go away in the new year. Last week, West Texas Intermediate crude, a benchmark for oil prices, dipped to approximately $73 per barrel, a significant 20% drop from its late September peak of $94. "The big surprise of 2023 is stronger than expected non-OPEC supply growth, which we think will slow heading into 2024," Struyven said. And what the US economy doesn't need in the near future is Americans tightening their budgets after their summer of fun and the holiday spending season.

US pension plans lose bid to block cum-ex tax fraud case
  + stars: | 2023-11-21 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
COPENHAGEN, Nov 21 (Reuters) - A group of U.S. pension plans has lost a bid to block Denmark's tax agency from pursuing millions of dollars from them in a "cum-ex" tax fraud case after a judge in a New York district court ruled the trial could proceed. Danish tax agency in 2018 filed civil lawsuits in federal district courts across the United States, accusing more than 100 retirement and pension plans of inflating the size of their Danish stock holdings in order to obtain higher tax refunds. In a bellwether trial in the New York court to help anticipate the results of future similar cases, the judge rejected arguments brought by seven defendants, meaning the Danish tax authority can proceed with its case. The second bellwether defendant group is the Solo group, which includes five U.S.-based pension plans, a lawyer, two trusts and their trustees. The Danish tax agency claims that British hedge fund trader Sanjay Shah masterminded a fraudulent scheme that involved submitting wrongful applications for dividend tax refunds on behalf of investors and companies around the world between 2012 and 2015.

Fisker said it has added several logistics partners to transport Ocean SUVs to delivery locations so that they can be handed over to customers quickly. The outlook on the credit rating of the United States was changed to “negative” from “stable” on Friday by the ratings firm Moody’s, which pointed to the nation’s worsening fiscal position and political polarization as long-term concerns for America’s economy. The change falls short of a downgrade to America’s credit rating, which Moody’s maintained at the highest AAA level. That downgrade, two months after the United States narrowly avoided defaulting on its debt, was the second in America’s history. Federal Reserve Board Chairman Jerome Powell answers a question during a press conference following a closed two-day meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee on interest rate policy at the Federal Reserve in Washington, U.S., November 1, 2023. Curiously, there was little change in that basic market pricing after Powell spoke - with end-2024 futures still pointing at a rate of 4.50-4.75% versus the current 5.25-5.50%. But the Treasury market did suffer a bigger jolt - as they were also undermined by poor demand at the latest long bond auction. But others pointed to a ransomware attack on the U.S. arm of The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, which reportedly disrupted trades in the Treasury market on Thursday. Whatever the main cause, fresh bond market jitters were enough to knock the S&P500 out of its winning streak and close almost 1% lower.

Cash from money market funds and other eligible firms flowing into the Fed's reverse repo facility stood at $993.3 billion on Thursday, which was the first time flows fell under the $1 trillion mark since Aug. 10, 2021. Until fairly recently, Fed efforts to pull liquidity out has had only a modest impact on the reverse repo inflows, which had held above $2 trillion per day until mid-June. J.P. Morgan economists said Thursday that reverse repo balances "should decline further" given what's happening with Treasury debt offerings. The accelerating decline of the reverse repo facility has fueled questions about how far the Fed has left to go on shrinking the size of its balance sheet. They project reverse repo levels will stand at $700 billion at that point.

The increases in credit card delinquency were the sharpest among borrowers in the range of 30 to 39 years old, according to the New York Fed. Newly delinquent auto loan balances continued to climb, as well, with transitions into serious delinquencies hitting 13-year highs, survey data showed. Still, thanks mostly to higher-quality mortgage loans, overall delinquencies remain below pre-pandemic levels, New York Fed researchers said.
