The chip is called the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC and was developed by Xilinx, which was acquired by AMD this year. This will allow automakers to update not only software, but also the chip, after the car is sold, Rehan Tahir, AMD’s senior product marketing manager for automotive told Reuters. Tahir said the Aisin auto parking system will start production on 2024 models, but declined to say which car brands would use it. Tahir said the Aisin system works with four cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors on the car to parallel park and also back into parking spaces. But the human in the car will have to decide if that spot is in a no-parking zone, he said.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is getting some love Monday in the form of upgrades from UBS and Baird, bolstering our recent decision to halt trimming any more of the chip designer's shares. However, AMD, like many of its peers, has been decimated on Wall Street, losing 48% in 2022. In fact, UBS analysts suggest it may even be possible that shipments fell to near zero in September. As a result, they expect the new chip, which marks a significant improvement in performance to accelerate AMD's market share gains. This is in addition to AMD's multiyear push around data center, a central reason we like the company's long-term prospects despite our more cautious view on chips stocks at present . Its more recent areas of focus — data center and embedded — are holding up for now while there's weakness in parts of the company's consumer-focused end markets. In the second quarter, data center revenue was $1.5 billion, up 83% compared with 2021. As mentioned, AMD expected data center revenue in its current fourth quarter to exceed the $1.6 billion it generated in the three months ended Sept. 24. "We expect AMD's share gains to continue, as the company's upcoming, next-generation server CPUs are expected to outperform Intel’s lineup across price/performance metrics," YipitData analyst Nathaniel Harmon said. Reuters GraphicsThe PC industry, reeling from a downturn after its pandemic boom, pressured AMD's earnings and the company also lost market share there to Intel. A recovery in the business seems distant, with Chief Executive Lisa Su saying that AMD expects the PC market will decline by another 10% in 2023. AMD forecast fourth-quarter and full-year revenue below Wall Street estimates, but Kinngai Chan, an analyst at Summit Insights Group, suggested investors had braced for worse. "While AMD's 4Q22 sales outlook was below consensus expectations, we believe investors are somewhat relieved that AMD expects its data center and embedded businesses to grow sequentially," Chan said. While AMD has been growing its market share quickly in the datacenter, rival Intel Corp.(INTC.O) has seen its share slip even in its latest earnings reported. Su added the North American cloud market was the most resilient of the data center market segments, though she did not expect significant recovery of the China data center market in 2023. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported fiscal third-quarter results that missed lowered expectations on after the closing bell Tuesday. Revenue in AMD's third-quarter increased 29% to $5.57 billion, missing estimates of $5.62 billion. Data center revenue remains resilient thanks to strong North American cloud demand, where AMD is strongest, while Embedded segment sales benefited from strong end market demand. While the long-term drivers of growth — cloud computing, gaming, and digitization — appear fully intact, the near-term issues must be resolved. Gaming revenue was $1.6 billion, up 14% year over year and also in line with estimates driven by higher semi-custom product sales.

Of the three major stock market indices, investors currently favor the Dow Jones Industrial Average – particularly in the wake of last week's dismal quarterly reports by mega cap tech firms and the subsequent sell off. So, given this backdrop, how can investors harness an outperforming Dow when constructing their portfolio? The simplest approach would be to look at the companies that comprise the index and pick those with further room to run. Here's a rundown of how we measure our portfolio against the Dow across health-care, finance and semiconductor stocks. A top complaint coming out of this week's Nvidia GTC conference is sticker shock over the company's newly unveiled 40 series graphics processing units for video gamers and creators. For reference, the 4080 and 4090 series chips start at $899 and $1,599, respectively. Put another way, if we were to adjust for inflation, a comparable 40 series price tag (think 2020 dollars) would be about $770 for the 4080 and $1,650 for the 4090. In the end, if you want the most cutting-edge chips, one thing nobody can deny is the incredible performance boost of the 40 series versus prior generations.
