Nearly seven decades after her first film, she was awarded an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement at age 88 in November 2013. "I feel really undeserving of this gorgeous chap," Lansbury said, referring to the golden Oscar statuette she was given. "Not since the heyday of Bette Davis had there been an actress of this range and accomplishment," wrote critic David Shipman. Lansbury was born in London in 1925 and went to the United States in 1940 to avoid the war with her mother, actress Moyna McGill, who appeared in several Hollywood films. Lansbury, who lived in Los Angeles, married actor Richard Cromwell in 1945 but the union lasted less than a year.
LOS ANGELES, Oct 5 (Reuters) - In the new movie "Amsterdam," Christian Bale, John David Washington and Margot Robbie play friends who are reunited years later and accused of murder. The film from Oscar-nominated director David O. Russell, which debuts in theaters on Friday, is inspired by the real-life story of a little-known plot to overthrow U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1930s. Bale and Washington play wounded World War One soldiers who celebrated their postwar life in Amsterdam with their nurse, played by Margot Robbie. Director David O. Russell with cast members Rami Malek, Andrea Riseborough, Margot Robbie and Christian Bale attend the European premiere of the film "Amsterdam", in London, Britain September 21, 2022. De Niro said he believed the film had resonance with the current U.S. political climate.
I mean, if you look at the actors who portrayed Bond, it's very hard to pin down any common characteristic," he added. Sean Connery first played the fictional spy created by author Ian Fleming. "Thank goodness they cast Sean Connery originally because I think if it had not been him, who knows whether we'd still be here 60 years afterwards. And each one of the actors has transformed the series in a new direction, kept them fresh and relevant for the time." James Cameron's "Avatar: The Way of Water" is scheduled to reach theaters in December. The first "Avatar" movie focused on a battle for natural resources between human colonists and the blue Na'vi people on a moon called Pandora. "We now have a family and to be honest, to me, the movie is about protecting your family." It could be a communal family, the family that we choose," he added. "He's a man that cares about the story he's telling and has dedicated a great portion of his life to telling, sharing this with the world," Worthington said.

REUTERS/Stephane Mahe/File PhotoLOS ANGELES, Sept 20 (Reuters) - The new "Star Wars" television series "Andor" promises a look at the day-to-day lives of the people who eventually become heroes in the ongoing battle set in a galaxy far, far away. "Andor," which debuts on the Disney+ (DIS.N) streaming service on Wednesday, is a prequel to hit 2016 film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." I don't think we've seen that," Luna said. "We want to make everything real - real emotions, real stakes, real threats, real fear, real betrayal, real love, real desperation, real families, real domestic drama, real adventure," he said.
