CNN —Vaping has an immediate effect on how well the user’s blood vessels work, even if the e-cigarette doesn’t contain nicotine, according to new research. But scientists say these results may mean that vaping regularly could lead to vascular disease down the road. “Even if there was no nicotine in the e-cigarette, there could be other components that may be harmful,” Nabbout said. Compared with the nonsmokers and cigarette smokers, the people who used vapes with nicotine had the most significant reduction in vascular function. If vaping is significantly affecting someone’s vascular health, e-cigarette users could then see increased heart attacks, strokes or blood flow issues, Rizzo said.

Many families have been effectively cutting a second rent check to send their kids to day care, according to new data from the Department of Labor. On average, families spent anywhere from $6,552 to as much as $15,600 on full-day care per child in 2022, the latest year with available data. While incomes also range widely throughout the country, households typically funnel between about 9% and 16% of their annual income on day care per child. But while child care costs help explain Americans’ economic dissatisfaction, an NBC News analysis of the Labor Department and election result data also hints at the limits of the issue politically. The most forbidding child care markets in 2022 voted two years later for Trump by higher margins than the nation overall, but so did many of the areas where child care was more affordable.

"Wicked" is expected to snare $114 million during its domestic opening, the highest debut of a Broadway adaptation in cinematic history, according to Sunday estimates. Tracking projections for "Wicked" started around $80 million in late October, but rose to a range of $120 million to $140 million. Meanwhile, "Gladiator II" is expected to open with $55.5 million in ticket sales domestically, according to Sunday estimates.
