"But the bar for a further shift in expected interest rates in favor of the U.S. in the near term is quite high," he added. Political uncertainty is another drag for the single currency as investors wait to see if France's government can survive the week intact.

The conditional commitment award must still be finalized and includes $6.85 billion in principal and $688 million in capitalized interest for the StarPlus Energy joint venture. The venture will build batteries for Stellantis electric vehicles and at full capacity will produce about 67 GWh of batteries, enough to supply approximately 670,000 vehicles annually, the Energy Department said. CNN —Five people have been reported missing from a fishing boat that capsized in rough waters off the coast of southeastern Alaska, officials said. The US Coast Guard received a mayday call at 12:10 a.m. Sunday from the crew aboard the 50-foot-long vessel, saying it was overturning, the guard said in a news release. The Coast Guard asked for additional information but received no response, the release said. The ferry vessel AMHS Hubbard overheard an urgent broadcast from the Coast Guard and arrived on the scene first, officials said. Temperatures will warm above freezing on Monday so the heavy snowfall will transition to a rain and snow mix before becoming all rainfall by Tuesday.
