Indian economy regains its swagger as China stumbles
  + stars: | 2023-11-03 | by ( Diksha Madhok | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +9 min
New Delhi CNN —India’s economy is like an elephant. India’s economy is currently worth nearly $3.5 trillion, making it the world’s fifth largest. “India’s economy is comfortably placed to grow at an annual rate of at least 6% in the coming few years,” Barclays said. But even as India’s heft is increasing, it is far from recreating the economic miracle China unleashed decades ago. It will, no doubt — though it won’t be enough to shield the world economy should China’s economy stumble badly,” they added.

BlackRock’s history with Blackstone means a reunion with Stephen Schwarzman’s $110 billion firm is a persistent Wall Street rumor. The 13-year-old company has introduced a free service called DocDefender that can scrub a physician's personal contact information from the internet. Oct 31 (Reuters) - Telecommunications services firm Lumen Technologies (LUMN.N) beat Wall Street estimates for third-quarter revenue on Tuesday, helped by strong demand for its services as businesses digitize their operations. The Monroe, Louisiana-based company posted revenue of $3.64 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, beating analysts' average estimate of $3.61 billion, according to LSEG data, but fell 17% from a year earlier. The company said its long-term debt at the end of the third-quarter was $19.74 billion. The project to revamp the LME's electronic system was due to go live in June this year. Sources said the front-end trading platform developed by U.S.-based Trading Technologies does not work for the complicated structure of contracts on the LME. In response to a request for comment, Trading Technologies said: "We would defer to the LME on this." The problem comes from the LME's unique date structure which allows trading for any day between the cash contract and the benchmark three-month forward. One important aspect, the LME said, is aligning its platform with other exchanges.

Businesses may elect to build their own private 5G networks. Experts recommend building and securing a 5G network the same way you would a cloud network. Here are three threats to consider when building your own private 5G network. It's therefore important to constantly monitor how your private 5G network evolves over time — and watch for incursions from unrecognized sources in and out of the network. "Traffic entering and leaving all entry points into the 5G network should be monitored and inspected for threats," said Sandhu.

U.S. chipmaker Nvidia has been getting a lot of love from market watchers this year – and growth investor Nick Griffin is no exception. NVDA YTD mountain Year-to-date share price of Nvidia Griffin does not expect this phenomenon to have a significant impact on the company in the long-term. So, short-term, I understand the negativity – but long-term, it's not going to change the fact that people want to buy their chips," Griffin said. Going forward he foresees an increase in the demand for GPUs - which would possibly chip away Nvidia's market share to around 60%. While this may mean a loss of market share to its fellow chipmakers, the growth investor believes that Nvidia is in "a very unique position."

The Personal Financial Data Rights rule would ensure consumers' legal right to their checking and prepaid account, credit card and digital wallet history and require fee-free data sharing among financial institutions, according to a release. It also includes restrictions on the monetization of sensitive consumer data by banks and tech companies and permits customers to revoke access to their data. "When it comes to our financial lives, a handful of very large banks and financial firms control much of the market," CFPB Director Rohit Chopra told reporters Thursday. If adopted, the rule would reactivate a statute of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act tasking the CFPB with ensuring fair competition for consumer financial products. The US Army is rethinking its approach to drones and looking to "unman unmanned" aircraft. The aim is for drones to be able to fly more easily from anywhere with fewer people involved. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe US Army is aiming to "unman unmanned" aircraft operations, as one of its top generals likes to say, and that process involves developing the ability to fly drones easily from more places with fewer people in the mix. That could include employing AI to help troops fly UAVs and make decisions in real time, too. But even with the move toward this future for Army drones, there's potentially still opportunities for older models to serve a purpose.

But they weren’t always that way, according to a new study, which found the famous 2,500-year-old Parthenon sculptures were colorful, painted with floral patterns and other elaborate designs. Researchers found microscopic traces of paint by using infrared light that is absorbed by the blue paint and appears on camera as a glowing white (right). By illuminating the sculptures with the red light, a pigment known as “Egyptian blue” absorbs the light and appears on camera as a glowing white. “Egyptian blue” was a popular pigment of its time that was made using calcium, copper and silicon, according to the Royal Society of Chemistry. Verri said he hopes that further imaging will soon be developed to find other colors present on the sculptures.

Insider spoke with eight current and former assistants at Hollywood companies, plus a former creative executive at a midsize film studio. At Paramount, which cut 25% of staff from its US cable networks earlier this year, there appear to be no open executive assistant jobs in entertainment capacities .

Lucid dreams occur when a person sleeping becomes aware they're dreaming and may be able to control parts of the dream. Humane AI, a company founded in 2017 by former Apple employees, debuted its wearable — the AI Pin — on the runway last week at Paris Fashion Week. And famed iPhone designer Jony Ive and OpenAI's Sam Altman are also reportedly discussing an AI hardware project.
