Thousands of rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel since the conflict began, according to the Israeli military.
Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s groups’ arsenals include weapons that can hit targets more than 150 miles away, according to the Wilson Center, a nonpartisan foreign policy research and analysis group.
Israel’s Iron Dome system, which was introduced in 2011, was designed to intercept and destroy incoming rockets.
