London CNN —A painting valued at $15,000 just two years ago is now expected to fetch up to $18 million at auction after being identified as the work of the Dutch master Rembrandt. Extensive tests revealed changes that Rembrandt had made to the painting. The examination, which involved x-rays and infrared imaging, as well as intensive discussions with leading Rembrandt scholars, led Sotheby’s to conclude the painting is “an autograph work by Rembrandt.” It now values the work at between £10 million and £15 million ($12.2 million-$18.3 million). Thereafter, the painting was “entirely overlooked and completely ignored in the Rembrandt literature,” according to Sothebys. “This sophisticated painting is in equal measure a product of Rembrandt’s brush and his intellect.

Ukraine has been using homemade $100,000 octocopter drones to destroy Russian tanks on the battlefield, an operator said. The R18 octocopters destroyed 10 Russian tanks in recent months, a drone pilot told CBS News. In the last month, a Ukrainian military unit "destroyed $40 million worth of Russian hardware," a commander said. One homemade octocopter runs for $100,000, but this weapon appears to be proving its worth, taking out far more expensive Russian tanks and artillery pieces, even in the dead of night, an operator said. In recent months, the Ukrainian military has also been using much cheaper, low-budget drones rigged with explosive devices, such as anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades, against Russian forces.

Working women spend $15.4 billion more in out-of-pocket health expenses annually compared to their male counterparts, according to a new analysis of employer-sponsored health plans from Deloitte Consulting. The study found women spend 18% more than men on co-pays and deductibles, on average. The takeaway being that women get paid less, and that they pay more for health care," said Dr. Kulleni Gebreyes, U.S. chief health equity officer at Deloitte Consulting. Women tend to utilize more medical care than men, in part due to annual gynecological exams and the high costs of breast cancer imaging.

(AP) — Kim Mulkey, the coach of defending national champion LSU, is publicizing that she had two stents put in a major artery this summer as she tries to promote screening for life-threatening arterial blockages. Mulkey had stents put in by catheter in late June and has fully resumed coaching activities, overseeing the first practice for the 2023-24 season, which was open to fans. “It’s not going to slow me down," Mulkey told The Advocate of Baton Rouge. "A lot of my issues were hereditary.”Last season's national title was Mulkey's fourth as a head coach — the first three coming at Baylor, where she coached from 2000 to 2021. NEW YORK (AP) — Tenor Stephen Gould, who announced earlier this month that he had been diagnosed with incurable bile duct cancer, has died. Gould's agent Stephanie Ammann confirmed the singer died Tuesday in Virginia. He debuted in Richard Wagner’s “Ring” cycle in Bayreuth in 2006, earning raves during the challenging four-nights of performances. It’s often discovered by accident — for example, through routine blood tests or imaging done for an unrelated reason. He is survived by his sister.

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, created by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, will use the computing system to run openly available AI models, the philanthropy venture said on Tuesday. AI has been used in the life sciences domain for some years. The system will be trained on datasets from software tool CZ Cell x Gene, as well as resources from Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and Chan Zuckerberg Institute for Advanced Biological Imaging, and publicly available data. The company released its latest Llama 2 model in July, and offered it for free to businesses of a certain size.

The X-ray and ultrasound machine maker added that the grant is aimed at expanding access to high quality care around the world with an emphasis on low- and middle-income countries.
