Loren Cameron was in his early 30s when he bought his first suit, walking nervously into a haberdashery for short men. He was 5-foot-3 and wanted so much to be bigger, equating masculinity with heft — which is why he was also a dedicated body builder. The salesman sized him up “as a regular working-class Joe,” as Mr. Cameron put it, who was entering unfamiliar territory, and set out to teach him the rituals of fine dressing. He fitted Mr. Cameron into a double-breasted Italian-made suit, taught him the difference between a half and a full Windsor tie knot and showed him four variations on folding a pocket square. “I felt at least two inches taller when I walked out of there,” Mr. Cameron wrote of his suit-shopping adventure, “and it wasn’t because of the elevator shoes.”
“Dietrich turned what was a bunch of fragments into something that was beautiful,” said Hemingway, the Met curator. It is not clear how the dozens of fragments that were used to reconstruct the kylix came to be so widely dispersed. And all of them had some kind of relationship with von Bothmer. Fritz Bürki, who sold the Met the first fragments in 1978, was an expert in the reassembly of fractured artifacts. He had rebuilt the infamous Euphronios krater for Hecht, the dealer who sold it to von Bothmer and the Met.

LONDON, April 12 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Credit Suisse’s (CSGN.S) Swiss business is theoretically the jewel in the bank’s tarnished crown. Hiving off the Credit Suisse local unit could save Kelleher and his Chief Executive Sergio Ermotti a lot of grief. By contrast, UBS is paying just $3.6 billion for all of Credit Suisse, based on the buyer’s most recent share price. Kelleher could in theory just hand the Credit Suisse local division to shareholders, but that could prove destabilising if they all cash out immediately. UBS will rescue Credit Suisse in a deal worth about 3 billion Swiss francs, Swiss authorities and the two banks said on March 19.
