CNN —Hunter Biden filed a civil lawsuit Tuesday against Rudy Giuliani and his former attorney, claiming they caused “total annihilation” of his digital privacy and violated federal and state computer privacy laws through their alleged efforts to hack his devices. It comes as Republicans launch an impeachment inquiry into his father, President Joe Biden, that’s also examining Hunter Biden’s business dealings. Earlier this month, Hunter Biden brought a similar civil suit against former Trump White House aide Garrett Ziegler, claiming that since leaving his White House post, Ziegler “has devoted most of his waking time and energy” on the effort to access devices that purportedly belonged to Hunter Biden. And last week, Hunter Biden sued the Internal Revenue Service, alleging its agents illegally released his tax information and that the agency failed to protect his private records. The suit accuses Giuliani and Costello of breaking both federal and California state computer privacy laws and asks for a jury trial in the matter.

The court documents indicate that the Justice Department has filed money laundering charges against former Filipino election administrator Andres Bautista – and that four executives from Smartmatic subsidiaries are implicated as uncharged co-conspirators. Bautista awarded $199 million in contracts to Smartmatic for about 94,000 voting machines and to handle the results of the Philippines’ presidential election in 2016. Former President Donald Trump won't have his day in court in October a Georgia judge ruled Thursday, saying the high-profile defendant could sever his case from two co-defendants who want to move more quickly. Trial for two defendants – lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell – will go ahead as scheduled Oct. 23. Those two invoked their right to a speedy trial, but other defendants have not yet done so. Ziegler denied the allegations and told Insider that he came by the data legally from Biden's laptop. The Hunter Biden laptop story is only the latest product of opposition research to make headlines. Mr. Safir, who had a home in Annapolis, underwent double bypass heart surgery and was treated for prostate cancer while he was commissioner. Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani put Mr. Safir in charge of the Police Department in 1996. The two men had known each other since the early 1980s, when Mr. Safir was a top figure in the United States Marshals Service and Mr. Giuliani was a senior Justice Department official. Two years earlier, upon becoming mayor, Mr. Giuliani had made his old colleague the fire commissioner. But in April 1996 Mr. Giuliani needed a new police commissioner to replace William J.
