CNN —Donald Trump on Tuesday declared himself the “father of IVF,” a fertility treatment that has come under threat following the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. “We really are the party for IVF,” Trump told moderator and Fox News host Harris Faulkner. “Donald Trump called himself ‘the father of IVF.’ What is he talking about?” the vice president posted on social media late Tuesday. Many of those GOP opponents have said they do support IVF but criticized the legislation as unnecessary overreach and a political show vote. After previously refusing to commit either way, Trump earlier this month said he would veto a federal abortion ban.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign laid out what it sees as her path to victory in Pennsylvania in a memo shared exclusively with NBC News ahead of Monday night’s rally in bellwether Erie County. “The Harris campaign’s path to win Pennsylvania capitalizes on Trump’s unprecedented weakness in the suburbs,” the memo, which also highlighted the campaign’s focus on Haley voters, reads. “They can point to the suburbs, but they’re losing ground in places like Philadelphia,” a Trump campaign official said. Kush Desai, the Trump campaign’s Pennsylvania spokesperson, highlighted Obama’s visit as a sign the Harris team was scrambling. Speaking with NBC News, Pennsylvania state Sen. Vincent Hughes said he could “understand the frustration” Obama expressed.

Black men have historically voted overwhelmingly for Democratic candidates, with turnout typically lagging that of Black women but consistent nonetheless. Even a relatively small drop in support from Black men for Harris could be significant given the razor-thin margins in battleground states. “Black men prioritize being the primary breadwinners of the household and care about real wages and permanent jobs. The Harris campaign also plans to ramp up its programming specifically designed to engage Black men. This week, it is set to partner with Black male celebrities, influencers and activists to hold “Black Men Huddle Up” events in battleground states, NFL and NCAA watch parties that will double as an avenue for Black men to discuss the stakes of the election.

Tim Walz, the vice presidential nominee, will campaign this week in Wisconsin and western Pennsylvania, the Harris official said. Why so many Florida gas stations are still out of gas

New York CNN —Hurricane Milton passed through Florida days ago, but the devastating storm is still causing chaos at gas stations. Hundreds of gas stations in Florida still don’t have gas, including roughly half of the stations in the hard-hit Tampa area. Meanwhile, the number of gas stations without gas has fallen sharply. This represents a significant improvement, although it still means that more than 1,300 Florida gas stations remain dry five days after Hurricane Milton made landfall. Florida gas stations are out of fuel following the storm that made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in the Siesta Key area of Florida, causing damage and flooding throughout Central Florida.

The trio of blue wall states offer promise to Vice President Harris and former President Trump. She's worked to rally union workers — a key voting bloc — around her campaign. But Loge also pointed to a newly-released Emerson College poll, which showed that Harris' union support varied by state. In the Quinnipiac poll, Michigan voters gave Trump an eight-point edge (53% to 45%) on the economy. And she's aiming to win over voters — especially union workers — in smaller cities where Trump found success in 2016.

In the hard-hit Tampa-St. Petersburg area, more than three quarters of stations, 77%, are out of gas. Some people told CNN they’ve had to use word of mouth to find out which stations have gas. Paula Cast told CNN her family visited four or five different gas stations Friday, but everything was closed. Obama acolytes have spent the last eight years rationalizing Trump as the last gasp backlash to the Democrat and his presidency. In this 2004 photo, then-District Attorney Kamala Harris waits for a proceeding to convene in San Francisco. The long-standing problem of racial inequities in the criminal justice system is among the issues that prompted Harris to become a prosecutor in the first place. “I grew up knowing about the disparities, inequities, and unfairness in the criminal justice system,” Harris said during a 2019 town hall hosted by MSNBC. Restoring power, clearing debris and distributing fuel are now the top priorities in Florida as the state continues to reel in the wake Hurricane Milton. Parts of western and central Florida continue to face the risk of significant flooding in creeks and rivers continue to rise. In a “major” flood stage, the agency expects “extensive inundation of structures and roads,” with the possible need to evacuate people and transfer property to higher elevations. Water levels are expected to continue rising in the coming days, posing a major flood risk in low-lying parts of the county, officials said. Parts of central Florida are also facing elevated risks of flooding due to high water levels in the St. Johns River and Ocklawaha River.

And they are long-shot races, especially during a presidential election, when ticket-splitting isn’t as common as it used to be. In Florida and Texas, Democrats are focusing on state abortion bans to try to push beyond their recent losses in those states. Cruz’s campaign spent almost $5 million on ads in September and $4 million in the first 10 days of October. The spending disparity is less stark in Florida, where in September Mucarsel-Powell’s campaign spent $8.6 million and Scott’s campaign spent $2.1 million. In Maryland, the Senate race features a similar dynamic, with the race rated by Cook as “Likely Democrat,” even though Harris is expected to win there easily.

The Justice Department announced Friday that it is suing Virginia over its efforts to purge voter rolls within 90 days of an election, calling the state's actions a violation of federal voting laws. Glenn Youngkin signed an executive order requiring the state's Department of Elections to conduct daily updates to its voting list, including comparing the list of identified "noncitizens" to the state's existing list of registered voters. According to the Justice Department, some of the people identified as noncitizens are in fact U.S. citizens, leading to some voter registrations being cancelled unnecessarily. In a statement, Youngkin called the lawsuit "politically motivated" and a "desperate attempt" to attack the election's legitimacy. Virginia’s Department of Elections and elections commissioner — both named in the lawsuit — did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday evening.
