Higgins was the executive assistant for "Euphoria" actor Colman Domingo for a year. I would love to work with another Black and queer individual and see what I could learn. He's an influential Black queer man who uses his influence to help other people like him break into the industry. Now, years later, I've started to notice that when I'm working on documents, I'm slowing down to really read them. He was the best boss I've ever hadWhen I was hired in the role, I knew it would only be for a year.
I had to depend more on my partner's salary and fell out of touch with professional contacts. Thanks to my partner's salary, my six-month-leave stretched longer. I was still saddled with societal pressures around work: working mom friends quizzed me constantly about my return, and I stressed about being "unproductive." While my partner's salary covers our basic living expenses, and mine goes to savings and student debt, our kid doesn't have a college fund yet — and we won't be able to retire before our 70s. The economic sexism of caregiving cost me years of career momentum, salary, and the ability to save for retirement — even more worrisome now that I am disabled by long COVID.
As a multiplatinum recording artist and the frontwoman of the indie rock band Gossip, Beth Ditto knows a thing or two about the cutthroat nature of the music industry. I know this person,’” Ditto, who hails from a liberal family of nine in Arkansas, told NBC News in a recent video interview. I grew up with country music. But I never changed the way that I was.”But Ditto also recognized the dearth of positive representation she had growing up. “We were in Hawaii with [record producer] Rick Rubin, and we made the record, and it’s been cooking,” Ditto said.

The Ayotzinapa parents have fought with the Mexican government to uncover the involvement of the military in the case. She is an expert on human rights and social justice policy in Mexico and Latin America. “This is not just a militarization of public security, it’s a militarism of parts of Mexican civilian life,” she said. “If you’re looking at the chain of command in any of these human rights cases, who knew what and when becomes important.
A decade-old scandal at a Massachusetts crime lab — which led authorities to dismiss tens of thousands of drug convictions — may involve wrongdoing by more people than was previously known, according to a recent court order. At least one person was referred to the state attorney general’s office in 2015 for potential prosecution, Judge John T. Lu wrote last week. The ruling stokes lingering doubts about statements by the state inspector general’s office over the past eight years that Dookhan was the “sole bad actor” at the Hinton lab. Bizuayehu Tesfaye / APDookhan’s misconduct at the Hinton lab was exposed in 2012, after she had worked there for nearly a decade. A spokesman for the inspector general’s office declined to comment, citing ongoing litigation.
When Raymond Lee first received an offer to star in “Quantum Leap,” a sequel to the beloved sci-fi series that aired from 1989 to 1993, he thought the show’s producers had made a mistake. “I got to play the lead in theater, [but] I didn’t know if the landscape was there for me to do it in television, let alone network television,” Lee told NBC Asian America. Raymond Lee as Dr. Ben Song in "Quantum Leap." “I’ve always considered the way I look and my background to be a superpower,” said Lee, who is Korean American. Witnessing Arab women flourish on the small screen, showcasing their talents and breaking through the presumption that they are oppressed is widely significant. That is not to say Arab women live in a utopia in the Middle East. The implication is that these Arab women have no depth to their character other than their attire. Just as common are images of Arab women living as concubines in harems waiting to please men. But the achievements of the past week should help to break down the stereotypes surrounding Arab women and inspire them to dream big.
If you're instantly checking work notifications as soon as you wake up or leaving your end of workday up to a feeling of 'done,' you're doing it wrong." To keep myself on track, I usually try to keep my working hours between 10 a.m. and 6p.m. So on days when a rigid schedule isn't possible, I set a goal for a certain number of working hours and then switch off when that's over. I stop as soon as my task list is over, and intentionally take a break in the middle when I know I have work scheduled for later than 6 p.m.. I also write down ideas or notes in my planner after my work day if I have any, instead of reopening my laptop.

The victory marked the starting point for what's become Smith's raison d'être to help as many student loan borrowers as possible. But of those who did, around 60% managed to get a discharge of some portion of their student debt, Iuliano found. And thanks to a widely-held belief that student debt is categorically exempt from discharge, few are willing to take that chance. "I have $50k student debt, no degree, was a victim of attempted murder, out of work, and homeless," reads another. We also wanted to give ourselves more wiggle room in our budget by lowering our monthly mortgage payment in case either of us lost our income. We were able to refinance to a new 3.4% 30-year loan to save $150 a month and more than $30,000 over the life of the loan. Why we decided to refinance nowWe bought our house in April 2017, using a 30-year mortgage at 4.4%. We decided to refinance not only to take advantage of lower mortgage refinance rates, but also as a precaution. A lower monthly mortgage payment gives us some flexibility and more cash flow if we find ourselves with less money coming in.

But we don't need research to prove that the post-COVID-19 celebrities will all look a little bit like Leslie Jordan. Jordan is one of the true stars of the lockdown, amassing more than 3.8 million Instagram followers in a little over a month. Our dear Leslie might be complaining a bit, but he's still trying to make the most of what he has. Story highlights Johan Bavman photographed fathers in Sweden, which has generous parental leave Sweden's policies encourage fathers to take just as much leave as mothersCNN —When photographer Johan Bavman became a father for the first time, he took more than a passing wonder about how his native Sweden is said to be the most generous nation on Earth for parental leave. Get this: Sweden grants a total of 480 calendar days of parental leave, with 390 of them paid at 80% of income, with a maximum of 3,160 euros a month or $3,474. Fathers have to share that leave with mothers. In reality, only 12% of Swedish couples equally share the 480 days of leave, Bavman said, with women continuing to lead the way as the stay-at-home parent and men as the careerist. Still, Bavman mused last summer about how the policy impacts those men who use the full measure of their parental leave.
