But even by the standards of the profession, the language in Dominion's $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News has been downright apocalyptic. A victory for Dominion against Fox, they say, could wreak havoc for other journalism organizations across the country. The sheer closeness between Trump and Fox News makes a case like this unlikely to harm journalism organizations down the line, Goodale said. The vast majority of defamation cases against media organizations are settled, which gives few high-profile precedents to the Dominion lawsuit. Year to date, the CPI increased 5.0%, the smallest 12-month gain since May 2021. Bill Gates has four science books he recommends to "anyone who wants to understand the weather and how it's affected by climate change" — and you don't need a science background to understand them. Four of them particularly helped him learn more about climate change and its effects on the planet, and are still useful to read today, he wrote. "It's actually one of the first books I recommend to anyone who wants to understand the weather and how it's affected by climate change," Gates wrote in his blog post. It also dives into climate issues like global warming and how weather affects the "global ecosystem," making it easier to identify the effects of climate change in your daily weather report. It also includes subject areas relevant to climate change, like a section on glaciers that are receding due to warmer temperatures, Gates added.

As Silicon Valley Bank went down the tubes, it wasn't surprising that the loudest mouths in Techworld started demanding that the federal government cover everyone's losses. They were pioneers on the frontier of tech and finance, and as such they acted the way pioneers always do. Myths of the frontiersIt's unfashionable for people in the tech industry to dispute the central role that government-funded infrastructure and academic projects have played in the development of Silicon Valley and the digital age. Shout down into Silicon Valley and you'll hear echoes of this same pioneer myth. They see themselves as heroes not of a Western frontier but of space — the Final one — as refracted by the legendary writers of the Golden Age of Science Fiction.
