Troops focused on how to be "small and undetectable" in the electromagnetic spectrum, a commander said. The Ukraine war has demonstrated the challenges of remaining hidden from enemy sensors and electronic warfare. It is also grappling with the expanding sensor threat and the realization that individual soldier, vehicle, and device emissions can be detected in the electromagnetic spectrum. AdvertisementRemaining hidden in the electromagnetic spectrum is a challenge, though, and completely invisible isn't an option. AdvertisementMuch of the Army's recent focus on electronic warfare and the electromagnetic spectrum has come from closely observing the war in Ukraine.

Sense glasses analyze facial expressions and track physical activity and eating habits. Emteq CEO Steen Strand said Sense glasses are not yet available for the consumer market. One company wants to help people wearing smart glasses look inward to gain insights into their own health. Another competitor, Meta, recently announced updates to its Ray-Ban smart glasses and showed off its Orion AR glasses, though those may never be made available to the public. "With most smart glasses, the sensors are looking out, whereas the data we are gathering is looking at the wearer," Nduka said.

CNN —China flew a record number of fighter jets and other warplanes around Taiwan during its large-scale military drills on Monday, the island’s Defense Ministry said. No Chinese warplanes were spotted entering Taiwan’s sovereign airspace, a step that would be considered a major escalation. While not directly comparable, the spike in Chinese warplanes on Monday superseded the previous daily record in September 2023, when 103 Chinese military aircraft were detected operating around Taiwan in a 24-hour span. In response to the latest incursions, Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said it employed its own aircraft, navy vessels and coastal missile systems to monitor the activity. A new video shows one of Taiwan's F-16 tracking a Chinese J-15 fighter jet. The "Joint Sword-2024B" drill involved a record number of Chinese aircraft, as well as warships. In the footage, a Taiwanese F-16 uses its sniper pod surveillance system to track a Chinese J-15, presumably from the Chinese carrier that participated in the Chinese drills. WASHINGTON — Michael Cohen is an unlikely civil rights warrior. Where Cohen, now a voluble Trump critic, aligns with civil rights advocates is on trying to turn the tide on the Supreme Court’s hostility to claims against federal officials for constitutional violations. Cohen also faces an unlikely alliance opposing his request: Joe Biden and Donald Trump. CNN —The THAAD defense system is one of the US military’s most powerful anti-missile weapons, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles at ranges of 150 to 200 kilometers (93 to 124 miles) and with a near-perfect success rate in testing. THAAD interceptors are kinetic, meaning they take out incoming targets by colliding with them rather than exploding near the incoming warhead. Those other missile defense systems are more numerous than THAAD, an illustration of the importance the Biden administration is placing on this deployment to Israel. What makes THAAD so accurate is the radar system that supplies its targeting information, the Army Navy/Transportable Radar Surveillance radar, or AN/TPY-2. Production models of the THAAD system have never failed to intercept incoming targets in testing, according to the Missile Threat Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

CNN —The US will send an advanced anti-missile system — and US troops to operate it — to Israel “to help bolster Israel’s air defenses following Iran’s unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 13 and again on October 1,” the Pentagon said Sunday. But the deployment of additional US troops to Israel is notable amid the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, and as the region braces for a potential Israeli attack on Iran that could continue to escalate hostilities. Approximately 100 US troops are deploying to Israel to operate the THAAD battery, according to a US defense official. It is rare for US troops to deploy inside Israel, but this is a typical number of troops to operate the anti-missile defense system. The THAAD system is specifically meant for anti-ballistic missile defense and could help Israel better defend itself against a future Iranian attack if Iran decides to respond to any Israeli strike.

A major part of the fears is that the US’ influence with Israel has appeared to be steadily waning over the last year. The US Navy has been burning through interceptors fighting in Middle East conflicts, including the valuable SM-3. But it's not just the SM-3 that the Navy is using up battling foes in the Middle East. In a short-range engagement, China's missiles wouldn't need to travel as high, and they would likely have shorter flight times and travel at slower speeds. Heart failure is a more severe form of heart disease, in which the heart is too weak to pump enough blood and oxygen to the body’s organs.
