The fund is one of a growing number investors and policymakers pushing to put more women in company boardrooms. Its latest move comes as the fund takes stock of its ESG engagement with companies so far this year. This year for the first time the fund analysed the structure of all U.S. pay packages above $20 million to see if they aligned with long-term value creation. As a result of its analysis, the fund voted against more than half of pay packages above this level, the report showed. The fund voted against the pay of Coca-Cola's (KO.N) James Quincey, Apple's (AAPL.O) Tim Cook and PepsiCo's (PEP.O) Ramon Laguarta, the fund's voting record showed.

Norway wealth fund CEO Nicolai Tangen poses for a picture before a news conference held at the Norwegian central bank in Oslo, Norway January 31, 2023. The fund invests in 9,200 firms worldwide, for which it sets expectations on a range of issues, from children's rights to climate change. Carbon capture, utilization and storage processes have been around for half a decade, but are currently gaining momentum. Some focus on modifying already-standing power as well as industrial plants that work on carbon capture. Put more succinctly, Deutsche Bank analyst James Hubbard called carbon capture "simple in theory" but "capital intensive and divisive" in reality. He also noted the company has one of the industry's largest carbon capture positions. Staphos cited the potential of its carbon capture operations as a long-term reason to be optimistic, even as its more traditional end-market, homebuilding, faces near-term pressure.

May told Insider that being open about the challenges you're facing can make you a better leader. Leaders need to "take the wall down" so those under them can say what they need to perform best. Insider recently asked May about her work in HR and meeting the needs of the company's large employee base. But you also need to work for companies with leaders that really understand the challenges. But I think employers need to keep top of mind the needs of their people.

An SEC spokesperson said the agency "does not comment on the existence or nonexistence of a possible investigation". Illumina declined to comment or provide further details on the SEC investigation. The gene-sequencing machine maker had repurchased Grail in 2021, despite opposition from U.S. and European antitrust regulators, a decision that prompted investor Carl Icahn to pursue a proxy fight at Illumina, arguing Grail should be divested as it had cost investors billions of dollars. Illumina was fined 432 million euros ($476 million) by the EU last month for closing the deal before approval by European antitrust regulators.

One of the first questions Tamara Lundgren often heard when she introduced herself as the CEO of Schnitzer Steel is, "What kind of steel do you make?'" Founded in 1906 by Russian immigrant Sam Schnitzer, the company started as a one-person scrap metal recycler. "The name Schnitzer Steel just no longer really reflects our work," said Lundgren, who joined the company in 2005 and was elevated to CEO in 2008. "In today's environment, the importance of recycling and the importance of recycling metals has reached a level that didn't exist 10 years ago," Lundgren said. "I'm glad we were getting that attention, but fundamentally what drove it was all of our recycling activity," Lundgren said.
