Fast-forward to the upcoming Women’s World Cup, which starts on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand, and a host of the game’s best players will also be absent because of an injury which appears to be endemic in the women’s game. But why are so many female soccer players suffering from the same injury? “At elite clubs in the men’s game, players have access to exceptional academies and training facilities from a very young age. Beth Mead starred for England in its Euro 2022 victory but will be missing the Women's World Cup. According to the findings, 34% of women players reported discomfort specifically in their heel and the majority use specialized insoles.

I’ve had chronic back pain, but the cause is not a mystery: I hunch over my computer for hours at a time. Backaches happen for a host of reasons and are best evaluated by your doctor, Dr. Echebiri said. But computer-related pain isn’t uncommon: A 2021 study of 2,000 people who worked on computers found that 48 percent had back and neck pain. I asked Dr. Echebiri and other experts how to prevent pain and keep your back strong. “I tell patients the cheapest option would be to get a stand for your laptop, or even a stack of books, and then a wireless keyboard,” Dr. Wei said.

President Biden and his advisers are elevating a new outside group as the leading super PAC to help re-elect him in 2024, making it the top destination for large sums of cash from supportive billionaires and multimillionaires. The blessing of the group, Future Forward, is a changing of the guard in the important world of big-money Democratic politics. Since the 2012 election, a different group, Priorities USA, has been the leading super PAC for Democratic presidential candidates. “In 2020, when they really appeared from nowhere and started placing advertising, the Biden campaign was impressed by the effectiveness of the ads and the overall rigorous testing that had clearly gone into the entire project,” Anita Dunn, a senior White House adviser to Mr. Biden, said of Future Forward. Future Forward has raised $50 million so far this year, the group said.

Jancee Dunn is out this week. I’m Christina Caron, a reporter on the Well desk, filling in. Nowadays the practice of letter writing feels almost quaint, but when I examined the science behind gratitude in June, I learned that expressing it doesn’t need to be time-consuming. Cultivating a grateful outlook, and taking a few minutes a day to count our blessings, can also reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, increase self-esteem and improve life satisfaction. As one expert put it: “Gratitude seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.”In that spirit, we asked New York Times readers to tell us how they practice gratitude, and we received nearly 800 responses.

Chicago CNN —President Joe Biden’s top economic advisers believe the worst effects of inflation are in the rear-view mirror. “I didn’t come up with a name,” he said, crediting the news media for inventing the term Bidenomics. The debt ceiling impasse also needed to be resolved and Biden’s key economic legislation needed to begin to be implemented. Now, officials see Bidenomics as an opportunity to tie together the president’s economic accomplishments, the vision behind those policies and a growing economy under one term. But it’s working.”But when faced with the question of whether “Bidenomics” can be the answer to changing public perception of the president’s record, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre offered a frank reply: “We’re going to try.

[1/4] Jun 23, 2023; Portland, Oregon, USA; Portland Thorns FC forward Sophia Smith (9) celebrates a goal in the second half against the Washington Spirit at Providence Park. Building chemistry on a World Cup squad is no easy feat, as players who once regarded one another as club foes must bond as team mates in a span of a few weeks, forming a cohesive unit. Veteran forward Megan Rapinoe turns 38 next month and finds herself on the same squad as 18-year-old Alyssa Thompson. Thompson and 21-year-old forward Trinity Rodman count retired great Carli Lloyd's goal from half-field the 2015 World Cup final as a pivotal memory from their childhood. Five of their team mates this year were on the team with Lloyd when it happened.

The drain in hard currency sparked panic earlier in the year, with Bolivians forming lines outside banks to withdraw dollars. Bond yields spiked sharply and in May the government was forced to sell half of its $2.6 billion gold reserves to raise cash. A major drought in Argentina has hammered grains output and reserves, imperiling a $44 billion debt deal with the International Monetary Fund. "The model is now shifting towards a very big state, a tax-and-spend approach," he said. "It has calmed people a bit... but that amount (gained from the gold reserves sale), $1.3 billion, is not enough for Bolivia," said local financial analyst Jaime Dunn.

Bidenomics gets a rebootPresident Biden plans to double down on his economic record in a big campaign-style speech on Wednesday. Yet despite the good news, Mr. Biden hasn’t seen a big jump in his popularity, and he trails his Republican rivals, according to some polls. “Bidenomics” will be at the heart of the president’s message. “But it’s working.” The Donilon-Dunn memo tries to give the messaging around Bidenomics a reboot. They point to how, for example, the CHIPS Act, the Inflation Reduction Act and the infrastructure law are creating jobs in the high-tech, manufacturing and green sectors.

The $42 billion in federal funding under the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program is based on a newly released Federal Communications Commission coverage map that details gaps in access. Texas and California - the two most populous U.S. states - top the funding list at $3.1 billion and $1.9 billion, respectively. But other less populous states like Virginia, Alabama and Louisiana cracked the top 10 list for funding due to lack of broadband access. The administration estimates there are some 8.5 million locations in the U.S. that lack access to broadband connections. The lack of broadband access drew attention during COVID shutdowns that forced students into online schooling.

The administration estimates there are some 8.5 million locations in the U.S. that lack access to broadband connections. The lack of broadband access drew attention during COVID shutdowns that forced students into online schooling. The Biden administration will say how much of the $42 billion in funding each state will receive under the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program, based on a newly-released Federal Communications Commission coverage map that details access gaps. In their memo, Mr. Donilon and Ms. Dunn cited polling that shows Americans broadly support some of the president’s key economic policies. Independent polls show that large majorities of the country do not believe that the president’s economic policies have set the country in the right direction. In an NBC poll released on Sunday, 74 percent of Americans said the nation was on the wrong track. Previous polls have shown that much of the concern centers on the president’s economic policies. One Associated Press survey in May found that only 33 percent of adults approved of his handling of the economy.

I decided to take a “scent walk” with my best friend, Julie, who lives in Morningside Heights in New York City. Rob Mastrianni, a park ranger in Manhattan, who recommended taking a walk with the express goal of spotting wildlife. If there’s a safe way to take a walk in the rain, wind or fog, “lean into the elements,” said Rob Walker, the author of “The Art of Noticing,” a book about finding opportunities to be amazed in everyday life. Revel in the dramatically shifting landscapes — the drama of wind whipping through the trees, or the way that rain can make greenery look more vivid. “I don’t want to encourage anyone to go kick a football around in a hurricane,” Walker said.

The lawyers said in the filing that the $725 million settlement is the largest data-privacy recovery in history and the largest private settlement Facebook has ever agreed to. Meta and an outside lawyer for the company from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the fee request on Thursday. While a 25% fee amounts to $181,250,000, the fees paid from the settlement fund would be about $180,449,782, the lawyers wrote. The company and its outside law firm, Gibson Dunn, already paid about $800,217 in sanctions, which can be deducted from the total fees, they wrote. The company did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement, which the judge granted preliminary approval of in March.

June 21 (Reuters) - Law firm Fenwick & West has hired its own outside legal team as it faces scrutiny over its role advising now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, including from the company's indicted founder Sam Bankman-Fried. Silicon Valley-founded Fenwick has turned to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher as its advice becomes a focus of Bankman-Fried’s criminal defense, according to court documents and sources familiar with the situation. Nancy Hart and Kevin Rosen, leaders in Gibson Dunn's prominent law firm defense practice, are representing Fenwick on issues related to FTX, including in the Bankman-Fried criminal case and a federal class action lawsuit, sources said. The firm also counseled Bankman-Fried’s hedge fund Alameda Research, which is at the center of the criminal case against him. In each case, Coinbase filed briefs as an "amicus," or friend of the court. A ruling favoring another crypto defendant at the trial court level would not be binding on Coinbase's own case, but the company could potentially point to it in its defense, legal experts said. Coinbase argued the digital assets on its platform do not pass that test, in part because they lack contractual agreements. In its other amicus brief, Coinbase urged a federal judge in Manhattan to allow the fair notice defense in the SEC case against Ripple Labs, which was the industry's highest-profile battle with the regulator prior to the Coinbase case. Coinbase argued to U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres that denying the Ripple defendants the fair notice defense "would jeopardize the validity of the defense in future cases."

Bonobos co-founder Andy Dunn is returning to the retailer as brand advisor as the company looks to get back to its roots after it was sold by Walmart earlier this year, Bonobos and new parent company WHP Global announced Friday. WHP Global and Express Inc., which runs the Express brand, bought Bonobos from Walmart in a $75 million deal that was announced in April and closed last month. Walmart originally bought Bonobos in 2017 for $310 million while it was working to grow its online presence under former e-commerce president Marc Lore. Under WHP Global, Bonobos can expand internationally, he said. While Walmart sold Bonobos for a significant discount compared to what it paid, the acquisition wasn't necessarily a losing one for Walmart.
