It sounds like the setup to a lightbulb joke: How much does it cost to change a microwave bulb? While my lightbulb situation may be somewhat unique, experts say it is not uncommon to learn the cost of repairs is more than the cost to replace an appliance. Figuring out the cost for a repairMy first call to repair our microwave was to the appliance store where I made the purchase. Several states — including California, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New York — have implemented so-called "right to repair" laws. Some products designed 'with a hostility to repair'Consumer advocates say state laws and the FTC actions help, but haven't solved the problem.

The blasts that rocked Lebanon for a second day reached the doors of a walkie-talkie maker in Japan on Thursday, as Israel’s declaration of a “new phase” to the conflict raised fears of all-out war. As the world urged against further escalation after months of devastating war with Hamas in Gaza, Israel indicated its focus had shifted to its northern border with Lebanon. “We are at the start of a new phase in the war — it requires courage, determination and perseverance on our part,” he said. In northern Israel, at least eight people were injured by anti-tank fire from across the Lebanon border, health authorities said early Thursday. While Israel has not taken responsibility for the attacks, the militant group and Lebanese officials also pinned the blame on Israel.

A photo taken on September 18, 2024, in Beirut's southern suburbs shows the remains of exploded pagers on display at an undisclosed location. “The design and manufacturing of the products are solely the responsibility of BAC,” Gold Apollo said. The allegations raise further questions as to who manufactured the devices and just how they made their way into Hezbollah’s pockets. Hungarian authorities denied Gold Apollo’s suggestion, saying that the Budapest-registered company “is a trading intermediary” with no manufacturing sites in the country. CNN has attempted to reach BAC at the address listed for its office, located in a residential area of Budapest.

So far, there is no evidence indicating the suspect was motivated or instructed by foreign elements to target Trump. But prosecutors and investigators have made clear that they view the incident as an apparent plot to kill the former president and are working to build a case with those additional charges. He had not made any threats, for instance, against the president or former president Trump,” Berger said. “You are free to assassinate Trump,” Routh also wrote of Iran in the apparently self-published book. Those posts, on their own, would likely not be enough to charge Routh with attempting to assassinate Trump, according to Aronberg.

By extension, the move in Washington, D.C. could also spell good news for Chinese stocks. High U.S. interest rates relative to China have made it fairly straightforward for global institutions to pick U.S. Treasurys over Chinese stocks. The "government can push interest rates down, but if households don't want to spend the extra income, it won't go into the economy," he said.
