Four sources have told CNN that the Israeli cabinet has not adopted the siege proposal put forward by retired general Giora Eiland. Eiland last month proposed forcing all civilians out of northern Gaza, including Gaza City, and then cutting off all supplies to the area. The World Food Programme told CNN on Friday that no food trucks had entered northern Gaza since the start of the month. Palestinians in northern Gaza say that this week has brought some of the most intense military action of the war. Meanwhile, seven attempts this week by the World Health Organization to reach northern Gaza were “denied or impeded,” Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Thursday.

New York CNN —Several hundred “underperforming” 7-Eleven locations across North America are closing, the convenience store announced. Seven & I Holdings, the chain’s Japan-based parent company, revealed in an earnings report Thursday that 444 locations of 7-Eleven are shutting down because of a variety of issues, including slowing sales, declining traffic, inflationary pressures and a decrease in cigarette purchases. A specific list of closing locations wasn’t immediately released. The chain has more than 13,000 stores across the United States, Canada and Mexico, so the number of closures amounts to 3% of its portfolio. Competitors like Wawa and Sheetz are earning higher customer satisfaction scores for their overall offerings, while 7-Eleven ranked way lower, according to a recent survey.

Inside data brokers' massive vaultCybersecurity experts estimate that data brokers collect an average of 1,000 data points on each individual with an online presence. Little oversight around data privacyThe lack of comprehensive regulation around data privacy allows data brokers to operate with little oversight, unlike the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union. Opt-out links and instructions are readily available for most of the major data brokers: ExperianTransUnionLexisNexisEpsilon But data privacy experts says reclaiming or deleting your data from brokers can be a deliberately complex process that is not only time-consuming but frustrating. "With AI, data brokers will create even more detailed and predictive profiles, incorporating everything from biometric data to behavioral tracking," Abed said. Until regulation steps in, data brokers will continue to collect as much data as possible.

CNN —It was an emotional night for Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday as the country’s football team paid tribute to teammate George Baldock, who was recently found dead in a swimming pool at his home in Athens. Greece recorded the first win over England in the national team’s history, as Vangelis Pavlidis’ last-minute strike secured a famous 2-1 victory. AMD launches AI chip to rival Nvidia's Blackwell

AMD launched a new artificial-intelligence chip on Thursday that is taking direct aim at Nvidia’s data center graphics processors, known as GPUs. In the past few years, Nvidia has dominated the majority of the data center GPU market, but AMD is historically in second place. The new AI chip is the successor to the MI300X, which started shipping late last year. Most industry estimates say Nvidia has over 90% of the market for data center AI chips. The new CPUs are particularly good for feeding data into AI workloads, AMD said.

While Harris has gained ground on stewardship of the economy, Trump still leads in most surveys about the issue, which frequently ranks as the top concern for voters. The Harris campaign and Democratic allies believe she must erode that advantage and at least fight it to a draw. These viruses, however, are not the kind that will give you the common cold or flu (or worse). It’s amazing how much untapped biodiversity is all around us.”The study identified more than 600 viruses found in the samples taken from showerheads and toothbrushes. And for every bacterium, there’s potentially tens or hundreds or even thousands of viruses that infect it,” Hartmann said, noting that viruses mutate very quickly, too. She hypothesized that a bacterium in your mouth could transfer to your toothbrush, taking its viruses with it – and these could keep evolving on the toothbrush. “Microbes are everywhere all the time … We wouldn’t be able to digest our food or fend off infection if we didn’t have our microbes,” Hartmann said.

Are ‘manfluencers’ raising our sons?

I realize that this old dad is not the hippest, but I thought I’d always kept an eye on the media my sons consume. On the surface, it seems easy to pinpoint what attracts our young men to manfluencers. That is the true draw to our young men, a place where they are the elite and above others. Since teenagers can be hard to meet head-on, try connecting with sons by praising them to others and through communication. We can lead our sons past the false trappings of fancy cars and money, and the cruelty perpetuated by these manfluencers.

You'll have to spend more to win big, as Mega Millions plans to raise its ticket price as part of a revamp that promises bigger prizes, the lottery announced Monday. There will be bigger prizes won more frequently, along with slightly improved odds of winning, according to the consortium that runs the lottery. Perhaps the most significant change affecting the most players is the automatic prize multiplier, which currently costs an additional $1 on top of a $2 ticket. Starting in April, this multiplier will be built into the ticket price, automatically boosting non-jackpot winnings. For example, if you match the numbers on three white balls and the Mega Ball, you currently win a $200 prize.
