If you ever find yourself taking a meeting with Jeff Bezos, don't expect the billionaire Amazon founder to speak first. There's a reason Bezos thinks managers should always speak last in business meetings, for example. "I hold a lot of meetings, and I would talk first in a meeting, and [Bezos] goes, 'No, no, no. Similarly, Bezos recommends keeping the meetings themselves as short as possible once the reading period is over, Sanchez said: "Keep meetings under an hour, if you can." Bezos' meeting method is favored by other tech executives, too.
A boom in sports documentaries has offered athletes more ways to be on screen and build their brands. Until she stumbled on Alloy, she’d been relying on antibacterial creams to soothe the pain she felt. The space was clearly a no-judgment zone, a place where women could talk about how they personally felt about the risks and benefits of taking hormones. “My new OB-GYN and my cancer doc won’t put me on hormones,” the woman said. Faubion told me that in certain circumstances, higher-risk women who are fully informed of the risks but suffer terrible symptoms might reasonably make the decision to opt for hormones. Only once I took the hormones did I appreciate that my regular 2 a.m. wakings, too, were most likely a symptom of perimenopause.
A technical committee of the influential OPEC+ oil producers' coalition has made no recommendation to change the group's existing production policy in its latest meeting, according to three delegates. The OPEC+ Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee, which tracks the alliance's compliance with its output quota, convened digitally on Wednesday. The second OPEC+ technical group, the Joint Technical Committee that studies market fundamentals, canceled a virtual meeting originally scheduled for Jan. 31, according to a delegate. Neither committee can outright decide OPEC+ production policy, but the JMMC can recommend plans for the review of coalition ministers. Under that provision, the group would nominally lower their production output quotas by 2 million barrels per day.
An Amazon marketing manager was told they were a high-value contributor. I started my promotion doc [a document explaining why an Amazon employee is ready for a promotion]. One thing that's in the ethos at Amazon is you're supposed to be allowed to make mistakes. So if it's something as simple as, "Hey, let's all try this new thing in Asana," and then the next day you're told you're horrible at Asana and that you're being put on a coaching action, it just seemed un-Amazonian. 'I started getting strange communication from my manager'By the end of December, I started getting strange communication from my manager.
I put ChatGPT to the test for a situation that many workers find stressful: asking for a raise. But can ChatGPT help you get a raise? I started simple: I told ChatGPT "ask my boss for a raise" to see what response that would yield. ChatGPT then gave me a very similar list of preparation steps but also tacked on a brief script template. Career coaches Esther Leonard and Mandi Woodruff-Santos told me ChatGPT's answers didn't seem obviously AI-generated and that a person could probably get a raise if they followed those steps and the script template.

Leading a fulfilling life requires discipline, Stutz said on a recent episode of "Armchair Expert," hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. Structural disciplineThe act of taking those reactive habits and integrating them into your "baseline" routine is what Stutz called structural discipline. Structural discipline relies more on conscious decision-making, while reactive discipline relies on subconscious behavior. In her book, "Good Habits, Bad Habits: The Science of Making Positive Changes That Stick," Wood frames it like this: You have to make the decision to ask your boss for a promotion. In other words, habits — good and bad — are formed through routines over time, which is why Stutz says you would be wise to adopt daily routines that promote good habits.
