What this Boeing strike is really all about

New York CNN —At the heart of the Boeing strike that began Friday is a story about what happens when penny-pinching executives lose the plot and it falls to workers to get everyone back on track. If Boeing were any other business — and not a too-big-fail half of a global duopoly — it almost certainly would have declared bankruptcy. Years of pent-up resentment over Boeing’s mismanagement, combined with pandemic-era inflation and a resurgent labor movement, made this strike inevitable. Ahead of the strike, Ortberg urged workers not to strike while acknowledging their anger over nearly two decades of past contracts that downsized their retirement and health care benefits. Almost exactly one year ago, the United Auto Workers union won historic guarantees from the Big Three automakers after a seven-week strike.

Even with recent rotation away from megacap tech stocks, there may still be a case for investing in thematic tech exchange-traded funds. Roundhill Investments runs the Roundhill Generative AI & Technology ETF (CHAT), which is up 13.8% year to date as of Friday's market close. But despite recent volatility in the group, the firm's CEO Dave Mazza thinks the investment thesis is still intact. Pointing to some of CHAT's under-the-radar artificial intelligence plays, Mazza waived off concerns that thematic ETFs may be too narrow in scope. "There are companies like Dell in the portfolio and others, ServiceNow and Salesforce , who are using AI and integrating AI," he said.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled Friday that mail ballots that are improperly dated won't be counted in November, a move that could have major implications in the closely divided battleground state. The decision reverses a lower court ruling from last month that found it was unconstitutional to reject mail ballots that had a missing or incorrect date. "This makes mail voting in the Keystone State less susceptible to fraud," he said. "Today’s procedural ruling is a setback for Pennsylvania voters, but we will keep fighting for them. Democrats have utilized mail voting more heavily than Republicans in recent elections in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

It was the third diagnosed concussion of his NFL career after two back-to-back concussions in 2022. But precisely who goes on to have CTE or other long-term health issues after a head collision is somewhat of a mystery. “But not everyone who has repetitive concussions develop brain health problems later in life,” Rowson said. “But there are data, obviously, looking at populations of former NFL players that show they have a higher incidence of neurological disease than the general public,” Alberts said. A player’s return to fully practice or participate in an NFL game is dependent on medical clearance—including from independent doctors—always putting the player’s health first,” the NFL said.

The Japanese star is now just two away from equaling the Dodgers franchise record of 49 homers hit by Shawn Green in 2001. “For him to hit the ball 118 mph at that degree, it’s usually a double,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, according to MLB.com. But the Dodgers roared back in the bottom of the first with five runs, immediately turning the game on its head. After two outs, Tommy Edman continued his impressive form with a two-run homer to left field to give the Dodgers the lead. Ohtani now has 16 regular-season games remaining to find the required three home runs and two stolen bases, starting on Friday at the Braves.

The DOJ did not name Tenet Media but NBC News identified the company based on its description in the indictment. Unlike the influencers alleged to have been victims of RT and Tenet Media, who denied knowing they were working for Russia, Chen has said nothing since the indictment made news. “By connecting to and interacting with one another through YouTube videos, influencers with mainstream audiences lend their credibility to openly white nationalist and other extremist content creators,” Lewis wrote. Following the unsealing of the indictment, TheBlaze fired Chen and Turning Point USA removed her author page from its website. YouTube terminated all four of Chen’s pages, erasing thousands of videos and nearly a decade of work, including the channel for Tenet Media.

While Trump tried to re-create the conditions of June’s fateful debate stage matchup, Harris reminded him, “You’re not running against Joe Biden. Back then, I had a decent credit score and about $18,000 in student loans, and he had a poor credit score and about the same amount in consumer debt and car debt. Here's what we did to tackle Marshall's credit score and debt ratio before officially tying the knot in January 2021 and eventually buying a home. The group released the survey last week with two nonprofit organizations, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Civic Empowerment Education Fund and Asian American Futures. The survey authors interviewed 1,253 Asian Americans across six of the largest Asian ethnic groups in California. Ramakrishnan said the results are relatively consistent with Asian American voters in the past. Still, there continues to be a misconception that appealing to Asian Americans, which often requires multilingual outreach, is too expensive, Ramakrishnan said. But hiring more Asian Americans on campaigns could help solve that issue.
