It had been more than a year since the Covid pandemic had forced Disney's domestic parks to shutter, but D'Amaro, chair of Disney's experiences division, was confident guests would flood back in when the gates reopened. Revenues fell 35% in 2020, a nearly $10 billion decrease from the $26.2 billion the experiences division had tallied in the year before the pandemic. The experiences division posted record revenue of $32.5 billion in fiscal 2023, a 16% increase from the prior year. Its innovations, from ride mechanics and animatronics to creature design and immersive architecture, have made Disney's parks a standout in the industry. Storytelling is at the heart of everything across Disney's experiences division.

But I felt like drinking was part of my identity and didn't tell anyone I was sober for a while. Finally, a few months into my sobriety, I told my husband, and then slowly told my friends. I didn't tell anyone I was sober for a whileWhen I first stopped drinking, I didn't tell anyone. I sat alone with the secret of my sobriety, which should have felt more like a feather than a bomb. Then, after almost a year of my own sobriety, my husband gave up drinking, too.

CNN —Two years ago, I could never have predicted the hype which surrounds tonight’s NCAA women’s basketball Final Four. Women’s college basketball is not just on the map for casual fans, it’s a star on the map – thanks at least, in large part, to Iowa star Caitlin Clark. Women’s college basketball is beating America’s pastime. More people have been searching women’s college basketball than for US President Joe Biden. Here are five things parents should try to never do if they want to raise successful, resilient kids, according to psychologists and other parenting experts. Resilient children typically have the confidence to bounce back from failures and continue taking necessary, calculated risks, research shows. "The more you trust your children to do things on their own, the more empowered they'll be," she wrote. "The most accomplished people reached their goals by failing along the way," wrote Morin. Kids learn more, and remember what they learn, when they're actively curious, research shows.

Conscientiousness is the top trait that employers always look for in new hires. The personality trait employers prize the most: ConscientiousnessYou may be familiar with the five factor model, also known as the set of Big Five personality traits. How you can demonstrate conscientiousnessDuring the hiring process, there are a few simple ways you can show potential employers that you possess this key trait. There are two phrases your doctor may say that Dr. LaTasha Seliby Perkins , a family physician at Georgetown University, advises you pay closer attention to on your next visit. "If they can't figure it out, maybe that means you need a referral to a specialist," Seliby Perkins says. You hear 'somatization' too soonSomatization is "a medical term for when you embody stress," Seliby Perkins says. AdvertisementThe much-coveted four-day workweek is back in the news this month after Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced new legislation and held a congressional hearing calling for a 32-hour national workweek. The buzz around a shorter workweek became a certified boom with the COVID-19 pandemic. AdvertisementThe four-day workweek has, in many ways, become shorthand for any shorter workweek, encompassing a wide variety of flexible schedules. Attracting top-tier employees is just one reason Dimitri Cavathas, CEO of Lower Shore Clinic, started considering a four-day workweek for his company. Lawmakers in several states have introduced legislation posing four-day workweek trials or research programs, including California, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Hawaii, though none have passed yet.

Keys to becoming CEO: Communication and curiosityOver the next few years, Homara worked her way up from being the office manager. Homara is part of the board of directors for the Silicon Valley chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction, and she's communications chair for Women Construction Owners and Executives. Women have made strides in the construction field since 2016, when they comprised 12.5% of the industry. For example, Homara says one of the biggest misconceptions is what construction is "dirty, dusty and heavy" work, but not all construction jobs are labor intensive. In 2020, roles like construction laborers, carpenters and electricians made up 3 in 5 construction jobs.

My 12-year-old daughter practically had to drag me into the musical “Six,” currently raging on Broadway, in which Henry VIII’s six wives all have their say about what happened to them. In this, the whole show is a kind of lesson in antiracism, regardless of whether a viewer is consciously aware of it. In that way, it is a quintessentially modern work of musical theater. Beyond the lessons “Six” teaches, the performers manage some of the deftest work on Broadway I’ve ever seen. So, “Six” can change your lens in an antiracist (and antisexist) way — while also turning you on to art, wonder, curiosity and excitement.

Courtesy of Maya WaldHere are the six most common mistakes I've noticed during interviews, and what you can do to avoid them. As a hiring manager, encountering candidates who haven't taken the time to understand the organization's mission and goals is not only disheartening but painfully obvious. As a hiring manager, I don't need an hourlong explanation of every role and project you've been a part of. As a hiring manager, encountering candidates who have no questions, or only surface-level questions, can signal a lack of genuine interest or preparation. As a hiring manager, I pay close attention to these cues to gauge a candidate's professionalism and demeanor.

Shani Mott, a scholar of Black studies at Johns Hopkins University whose examinations of race and power in America extended beyond the classroom to her employer, her city and even her own home, has died in Baltimore. She died of adrenal cancer on March 12, said her husband, Nathan Connolly, a professor of history at Johns Hopkins. Though Dr. Mott spent her career in some of academia’s elite spaces, she was firmly committed to the idea that scholarship should be grounded and tangible, not succumbing to ivory tower abstraction. She encouraged students to turn a critical eye to their own backgrounds and to the realities of the world around them. In a city like Baltimore, with its complicated and often cruel racial history, there was plenty to scrutinize.

CNBC's Jim Cramer said he felt drawn to the stock market when he was in the fourth grade. His father gave him a rudimentary explanation of the market, comparing the way investors studied stocks' performance to how sports fans studied that of players. Cramer was eager to start trying to track stocks and figure out which ones would go higher, so he began keeping a ledger with various company names. Cramer's childhood stock market "obsession" convinced him that it's never too early to start training young investors. "Get them started early, and they may play for life because, alas, the stock market, it's a long-term contest," he said.
