"Focusing on the mission context during operational test planning and execution provides a more robust operational test environment and facilitates evaluation goals." While the real-world MADIS system will be equipped not only with Stinger missiles but also with 30mm machine gun turrets, officials said the tests so far have only involved training ammo. This fall, 3rd LAAB will finally get its first 13 MADIS systems right as the weapon achieves initial operating capability, marking it ready for combat. Real estate stocks have been lagging the market, but here is one corner in particular where Janus Henderson sees an underappreciated opportunity. Overall, real estate stocks have started to rebound, with the S & P 500 real estate sector rallying 10% over the past month. Still, there is one area that has fared worse than many of its counterparts: industrial real estate investment trusts. The benchmark Janus uses for the overall REIT sector is the FTSE Nareit Equity REITs , which tracks commercial real estate across the U.S. "Cold storage is a specialized area within industrial that we like and where supply/demand fundamentals are also more favorable than coastal traditional industrial," Kuhl said.

Vance's campaign has been careful to point out that his comments about childless adults are aimed Democratic leaders. Advertisement"You go on Twitter and almost always the people who are most deranged and most psychotic are people who don't have kids," Vance said. AdvertisementJust two days later, Vance went on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" and made the comment about "childless cat ladies." Rather than walk back his comments, Vance attempted to profit off of them. Unknowingly addressing his future political opponent, Vance said, "If you want to brainwash children, have your own kids to brainwash."

AdvertisementSeveral cities have been trying to take advantage of the new policy, including Dubai, Milan, and more. A recently relocated hedge fund manager in Milan is planning to visit London or New York six or seven times a year going forward. "The best type of knowledge comes from people, from frequent interaction with people," said a Milan-based hedge fund manager. Several people — based in spots such as Dubai, Milan, and Zurich — mentioned that people early in their careers should still prioritize working in the biggest cities though. Moving to the Middle East just to interact with fellow UK ex-pats doesn't add much diversification to a portfolio manager's life.

Chelsea Norstedt left Penn State University in 2014 just two semesters shy of finishing her bachelor's degree in criminology. As she explored different career paths, she had a similar figure in mind. College graduates on average earn more than those without a four-year degree — but this so-called college wage premium is shrinking. Now, bachelor's degree holders earn about 75% more over their career than those without. At the same time, Norstedt monitored listings on job sites like LinkedIn and Indeed for any higher-paying office roles that did not explicitly require a college degree.

The apartment search website set out to determine how much apartment space renters across the United States can get for just $1,500 a month. The report found that more than half of the top 20 major cities offering the most space for that amount are in the Southeast and Southwest. Renters in major coastal cities like New York and Boston are sacrificing square footage and shelling out equal amounts in monthly rent, data shows. Texas has three locations where renters can get the most space for just $1,500— Lubbock, El Paso and Corpus Christi. Major cities in California top the list of places that offer the least amount of space for $1,500.

There’s a lot of talk that Kamala Harris picked Tim Walz to prevent Josh Shapiro’s views on the Middle East from becoming a distraction. But the more relevant reason that Walz was chosen is electoral. And if Harris narrowly loses Pennsylvania and thus the election, the failure to pick Shapiro will reverberate for generations. By contrast, Walz — a 24-year veteran of the Army National Guard — graduated from high school in a Nebraska town of 400 and later coached the Mankato West Scarlets to a Minnesota high school football championship. But Walz, an authentic rural voice, might change that outcome and reduce Trump’s share to 55 percent from roughly 60 percent in enough counties.

When President Biden abandoned his re-election campaign this month, citing the need to “pass the torch to a new generation,” some of the most envious accolades he received came from 6,000 miles away. In central Africa, in coastal Cameroon, many are longing for their president, Paul Biya — at 91 the world’s oldest leader — to take a leaf out of President Biden’s book. But most think he never will. “He’ll do everything to remain in power,” said Lukong Usheno Kiven, a human rights advocate based in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, where Mr. Biya has been in power for 42 years. Mr. Biya is just one of dozens of notably aged leaders who are also far older than the populations they serve.

The IDF launched a devastating and widespread bombing campaign of Gaza immediately following Hamas' October 7 massacre in Israel, during which some 1,200 people were killed. Palestinians cycle past destroyed buildings leveled as a result of Israeli bombardment in northern Gaza in July 2024. One of the issues that arose was that Israeli tank drivers had a hard time figuring out the depth of a crater left by an explosion while using night vision. To make matters worse, the IDF has suffered from tank shortages during its monthlong campaign in Gaza. The destruction in Gaza also turned the battlespace into an "irregular, congested, and complex visual environment," the RUSI conflict analysts said.

At least 15 people died following a rain-triggered landslide in central China’s Hunan Province, Chinese state media Xinhua said Sunday. China’s northeast – a key food-growing region which traditionally had been less effected by frequent flooding – is also grappling with heavy rains. In China’s Liaoning province, across the border from North Korea’s North Pyongan, more than 45,000 people were evacuated from their homes as of Sunday morning as heavy rains hit the region, according to Xinhua.

NEW YORK AP —Tucked within the expansive Native American halls of the American Museum of Natural History is a diminutive wooden doll that holds a sacred place among the tribes whose territories once included Manhattan. The American Museum of Natural History, he noted, is one of New York’s major tourism draws and also a mainstay for generations of area students learning about the region’s tribes. CNN —Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the United States’ and Germany’s decision to deploy US long-range missiles in Germany from 2026 is “reminiscent of the events of the Cold War” and could see Russia station similar missiles in response. Putin said that the US and Germany’s decision to begin “episodic deployments” of the long-range missile capabilities from its Multi-Domain Task Force in Germany starting in 2026 would put Russian infrastructure within the reach of the to-be-deployed missiles. “This situation is reminiscent of the events of the Cold War related to the deployment of Pershing medium-range missiles in Europe,” he said. Pershing II missiles, designed to deliver nuclear warheads, were deployed by the US Army at American bases in West Germany from 1983 to the alarm of the then Soviet leadership. They were withdrawn with the introduction of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) in 1988.

Where inflation is the highest and lowest in America

The Honolulu metro area in Hawaii, meanwhile, saw the nation’s highest annual inflation rate in May, at 5.2%. Housing costs have therefore eased over the past year, tugging inflation overall much lower. Tight housing-market conditions are also plaguing New York, which at one point boasted the lowest inflation rate in the country. Housing costs make up about a third of the Labor Department’s CPI, a closely watched inflation gauge. Inflation is down substantially from the 40-year highs of two years ago, but housing costs have remained stubbornly elevated.

Even though floods have impacted 99% of US counties over the past 28 years, only 4% of homeowners have flood insurance. For those without flood insurance, FEMA provided $4,400 on average. Individuals and communities both have roles to play in building financial resilience to disasters. These Community Disaster Resilience Zones qualify for reduced local costs and additional technical assistance. CNN —The stereotypical “cat lady” is one of pop culture’s most bizarre characters — and easiest punching bags. And though Vance’s description of “cat lady” didn’t include “crazy,” madness has been associated with “cat ladies” for over a century. “There is something about the independence of cats, something I like about them, which can be linked with a suspicion of independent women,” said Alice Madicott, whose book “Cat Women” prods the “crazy cat lady” stereotype. Many women proudly reclaim ‘cat lady’So-called cat ladies have been reclaiming the term for more than a century.
