Elon Musk says Grimes is trying to avoid Texas courts in their custody battle, court records show. Musk initially sued Grimes in Texas in September to "establish the parent-child relationship" with the three kids the pair share. She told a Texas judge in October that Musk had custody of their three-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii , over her objection. The outcome of that fight could have major consequences for Musk, thanks to the different child support caps in California and Texas. What to say right after schoolBe patient and wait until your child is ready to talk, Deiros Collado said. Only when kids are calm and their basic needs are met can they hold a meaningful conversation," Deiros Collado said. "What" is a much better way to begin, Deiros Collado said. "What did [a teacher or friend] say today?" It's also important to talk about emotions, as they can "show you a different side of your child's day," Deiros Collado said.

Advances in childhood cancer are a success story in modern medicine. But in the past decade, those strides have stalled for Black and Hispanic youth, opening a gap in death rates, according to a new report published Thursday. Death rates were about the same for Black, Hispanic and white children in 2001, and all went lower during the next decade. Nearly incurable 50 years ago, childhood cancer now is survivable for most patients, especially those with leukemia. The National Cancer Institute is working to gather data from every childhood cancer patient with the goal of linking each child to state-of-the-art care.

Facebook's new rebrand logo Meta is seen on smartphone in front of displayed logo of Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp and Oculus in this illustration picture taken October 28, 2021. Ofcom, which gained new powers when the Online Safety Act came into law last month, said children were a key priority. It said its role would be to force firms, such as Facebook and Instagram owner Meta (META.O), to tackle the causes of online harm by making their services safer. Chief Executive Melanie Dawes said Ofcom was wasting no time in setting out how it expected tech firms to protect people from illegal harm online. "Children have told us about the dangers they face, and we're determined to create a safer life online for young people in particular," she said.

The parents of baby Indi Gregory, who has a rare metabolic disorder known as mitochondrial disease, have fought legal battles in a bid to continue life support for their child. The legal tussle is the latest in a series of similar cases in Britain that saw doctors and parents spar over the treatment of terminally ill children and the respective rights and responsibilities of parents and medical professionals. The campaign group Christian Concern, which is supporting Indi’s parents, said the parents plan to appeal the ruling. The fatal disease has caused progressive brain damage in baby Indi, leaving her totally dependent on life support, according to evidence presented to the High Court in London. Instead, he said continuation of treatment would “perpetuate a high level of pain and suffering” for the baby.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Hamburg airport remained closed on Sunday, authorities said, as police dealt with a hostage situation they say likely involves a custody dispute. The airport closed for all takeoffs and landings on Saturday evening after police arrived in large numbers on the scene to deal with a man who drove through a barrier onto the grounds of the airport with a child. The car with the 35-year-old man and 4-year-old child was parked under a plane, a police spokesperson said. Police would not confirm their earlier statements that the man was armed and had fired shots. When asked by Wallace what percentage of Americans she thought were financially illiterate, she said, "Truthfully, probably 95%." So-called "traditional" accounts, including 401(k)s and individual retirement accounts, give you a tax break up front. Because you fund these accounts with money you've already paid taxes on, your contributions don't count against your taxable income. Contributions to these accounts are made with after-tax money, but investments in them grow free from federal or state tax. You can contribute to any state's plan — and each plan comes with different investing options — but you'll generally only receive tax benefits, if they're offered, by investing in your home state's plan.

Parents thinking of saving for their children's college education in around a decade could be in for some sticker shock. Breaking down the costs U.S. college tuition inflation averaged 12% annually from 2010 to 2022, according to T. Rowe Price, citing research by Education Data Initiative . Even assuming a more modest 5% annual inflation rate, the estimated total college cost could be as high as $383,823, she said. That college tuition bill 10 years from now — taking the $165,000 as a baseline and assuming a 3% normalized inflation rate and tuition inflation of 6% — could hit $295,000, according to Ebright. "It is important to maintain some exposure to growth assets as tuition inflation has traditionally been higher than the broader economy," Shen said.

Israel's coming offensive is set to be much bigger than past Gaza operations that Israeli officials had previously referred to as "mowing the grass", degrading Hamas's military capabilities but not eliminating it. "Whatever worst-case scenario you have, it will be worse," a second regional source said about the potential for the conflict to spread beyond Gaza.

Some observers say his moves are largely consistent with both the views of California voters and the political tone that Newsom struck in his first term. While Newsom delighted labor advocates with many of his signatures, he also angered them with some vetoes. “It’s because that’s what Californians want their governor to be.”Newsom's actions reflect that he is “a consistently left-of-center Democratic governor,” said Wesley Hussey, a political science professor at California State University, Sacramento. Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, who heads the California Labor Federation, said “it's almost cruel” that workers who go on strike aren't guaranteed insurance benefits. Newsom signed legislation to make sure LGBTQ+ foster youth are placed with families able to support their well-being, train school staff to better support LGBTQ+ students and seal legal gender-change petition documents for minors.

Qatar on Friday facilitated the return of another Ukrainian child, aged 7, who was reunited with his grandmother and is en route to Ukraine via Estonia, the official said. Kyiv has identified 20,000 children as taken to Russia or Russian-held territory without the consent of family or guardians. It is not clear how many additional children Russia will authorize to return to Ukraine via the Qatari mechanism after the first four, the official said. The first four children "were the first ones verified and (Russia and Ukraine) agreed they found their parents," the official said. "Both Ukrainian and Russian officials have been cooperative," the Qatari official said, adding that Ukraine approached the Gulf Arab state to mediate with Russia over the children.

The agreement currently applies to some 3,900 children separated from their parents during Trump's presidency from 2017-2021, according to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which represents separated families in a lawsuit first filed in 2018. An estimated 500-1,000 children remain separated and the number covered by the settlement will likely expand, the ACLU said. Trump, the frontrunner to become the Republican nominee for president in 2024, has criticized Biden's handling of border security and pledged to implement hardline immigration policies if reelected. As part of the settlement, separated families will have access to temporary housing support for one year, according to court documents. The Biden administration in 2021 broke off class-wide settlement talks that would have provided monetary compensation to separated families.

Tesla's Cybertruck is closer than ever, so we asked three experts on car design what they think about it. Instead of mimicking the upright, boxy shape of conventional pickups, Tesla's truck looks more like a triangle. "In car design, you wouldn't believe how much of a difference some small changes make," Licata said. Simplicity and purity are hallmarks of timeless design, Snyder said, and Tesla's wacky truck could fit the bill.
