By the seventh game of the Eastern Conference semifinal series last May, nobody could say Grant Williams hadn’t done his share. Despite severe disadvantages in height, weight and renown, the Boston Celtics’ third-year forward had spent much of the series matching up against the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. For two weeks, he set his chest against the two-time MVP’s post-ups and planted his feet in the path of his drives. Then the team asked still more of Williams. “We all told him, ‘You have to shoot these shots,’” Boston assistant coach Ben Sullivan said.

A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a proposed class action lawsuit by investors against the founders of the cryptocurrency EthereumMax, as well as celebrity endorsers including Kim Kardashian and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. over their promotion of the cryptocurrency on social media. Investors who bought EMAX tokens alleged they had suffered losses after taking the word of the celebrity influencers about the value of the crypto. Nov 4 (Reuters) - Nike Inc. on Friday suspended its relationship with Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving and canceled its next Irving-branded shoe release in the aftermath of his promotion of an anti-Semitic documentary. The Nets had already suspended Irving at least five games after he stopped short of fully disavowing the documentary on two occasions. Irving later issued a more fulsome apology late on Thursday for promoting a project he said contained "false anti-Semitic statements." But the apology was not enough to stop Nike from suspending ties with Irving. To that end, we've made the decision to suspend our relationship with Kyrie Irving effective immediately and will no longer launch the Kyrie 8," Nike said in a statement.

Steve Nash Is Gone, and the Brooklyn Nets Reboot. Again.
  + stars: | 2022-11-02 | by ( Jason Gay | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +1 min
Whatever is wrong with the Brooklyn Nets, and there is plenty— disaster doesn’t feel like an adequate rendering for this chronically chaotic professional basketball outfit, 2-5 entering Tuesday’s play—it is not principally the doing of Steve Nash. But because these are impatient times, and a scapegoat must be offered, and players are expensive and/or immovable, it is Nash on his way out of town after a Tuesday uncoupling charitably rebranded as a parting of the ways. Surely Nash, a former two-time NBA MVP known for his court vision, sensed it was coming. The job he took at the beginning of the 2020-21 season bears no resemblance to the shamble to be inherited by Brooklyn’s next hire, perhaps Ime Udoka—yes, that’s right, the Nets are reportedly interested in the head coach the Boston Celtics suspended in September for an entire season for what was murkily described as “violations of team policies.” Confronting crisis with crisis! You couldn’t make this team up if you tried.
