Members of the Trump family are scheduled to testify starting next week at a civil fraud trial in Manhattan, beginning with Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday and concluding on Nov. 6 with former President Donald J. Trump. Mr. Trump and his adult sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, are defendants in the case, which was brought by New York’s attorney general, Letitia James. The former president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, was a defendant but an appeals court dismissed the case against her this summer. Ms. Trump is still expected to testify next week after an unsuccessful effort on Friday to avoid doing so. In the lawsuit that led to the trial, Ms. James has accused the Trump family of fraudulently inflating the value of its assets to obtain favorable treatment from banks and insurance companies.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump isn’t used to constraints. Trump is not only a former president, but also the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Just days ago, he was fined $5,000 for violating the same gag order, which Engoron imposed after Trump targeted his principal law clerk on social media. Indeed, things are likely to get much more complicated for Trump in the coming months as his four criminal trials get underway. New York court officials have beefed up security for judges and court personnel involved in Trump matters in the wake of the threats.

New York (AP) — Manhattan prosecutors on Thursday dropped all charges against a woman who accused the movie star Jonathan Majors of assault, less than a day after she was arrested by New York City police following his allegation that she initiated the physical confrontation. She and Majors, her ex-boyfriend, have accused each other of battery during an argument in a car ride earlier this year. “The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has officially declined to prosecute the case against Grace Jabbari because it lacks prosecutorial merit. CNN —Hidden under years of dirt and grime in storage rooms, hundreds of precious religious objects have been rediscovered at a monastery in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. “Mark Meadows always thought it was rigged, the whole thing was rigged,” Trump said. Trump was indicted by Smith in August in Washington, D.C., for attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election and for inciting a riot at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The report from ABC News comes at a precarious moment for Trump, the GOP presidential primary front-runner who faces a total of 91 criminal charges stemming from four indictments. "If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges. He reiterated those points on social media, where Trump also posited that perhaps Meadows, after years of being pressured by Smith and other prosecutors, finally told Smith what he wanted to hear in order to secure his own immunity.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump delivers remarks after exiting the courtroom as he attends his Manhattan courthouse trial in a civil fraud case in New York, U.S., October 18, 2023. Future violations by Trump could be punished by steeper fines and possible imprisonment, Justice Arthur Engoron said in an order. Engoron said in the order that a social media post by Trump attacking the judge's clerk - which was deleted from the former president's Truth Social platform - had remained visible on his campaign website two weeks after he had ordered it taken down. Trump at times has appeared in person at the ongoing trial, attacking James and Engoron in inflammatory remarks to reporters outside of the courtroom. Trump, who has sought to portray the case as intended to hurt him politically, has denied wrongdoing and defended his asset valuations.

New York Attorney General Letitia James' office suggested Thursday that the Trump Organization failed to produce evidence in the $250 million fraud trial of Donald Trump and his company, citing a recent report accusing a key witness of lying under oath. The attorney general's suit accuses Trump, his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the Trump Organization and top executives of misstating the true values of properties to obtain tax advantages and better terms on loans and insurance. Wallace, in his letter, proposed that an independent monitor conduct a forensic review of electronic data held by the Trump Organization from August to September 2016. The alleged failure to produce those emails follows "multiple affidavits on behalf of the Trump Organization attesting to the completion of their production obligations," Wallace wrote. Tax-exempt income Interest income from municipal bonds is exempt from federal income tax — and can avoid state and local levies, too, if an investor and the bond issuer are in the same jurisdiction. This feature makes munis especially attractive to high-income investors in the 32% marginal federal income tax bracket and higher. Former U.S. President Donald Trump looks on during a break at a Manhattan courthouse as he attends trial in a civil fraud case brought by state Attorney General Letitia James against him, his adult sons, the Trump Organization and others in New York City, U.S., October 4, 2023. Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has denied wrongdoing and said the case is part of a political witch hunt. James is seeking at least $250 million in fines, a permanent ban against Trump and his sons Donald Jr and Eric from running businesses in New York and a five-year commercial real estate ban against Trump and the Trump Organization. Trump, who attended the first three days of trial in Manhattan earlier this week, has said he will testify. While this is a civil case, Trump faces other major legal challenges that have been a financial drain and made him the first sitting or former U.S. president to be criminally charged.

REUTERS/Caitlin Ochs/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Donald Trump's campaign said on Wednesday it raised over $45.5 million in the third quarter from July to September, nearly 30% higher than it raised in the previous quarter while the former U.S. president faces multiple legal charges. The acceleration in fundraising could be a sign that Trump's 2024 campaign coffers are benefiting from his legal problems, which include four indictments. The Trump campaign said it had over $37.5 million cash on hand and that about $36 million of it is designated for the primary. The DeSantis campaign on Wednesday reported raising $15 million during the third quarter, although not all of those funds will be available for use during the Republican primary. Trump's main fundraising committee raised more than $35 million during the April-June period, nearly twice what the group gathered in the prior three months.
