But one narrative has quickly taken hold in parts of the right-wing media ecosystem: The security failure was the result of workforce diversity initiatives and women working as Secret Service agents. Matt Walsh, a far-right media personality, wrote a series of posts on the social media platform X assailing the notion of women working as Secret Service agents. “There should not be any women in the Secret Service. “Female agents were also among those guarding Trump’s armored SUV as it prepared to depart the scene,” said Campbell. Associations that represent women in law enforcement reacted to the unfounded attacks on female agents with disappointment and alarm.

AdvertisementThe basic ingredients for an ancient beerMax Miller relied on a hymn and expert research to try and create an ancient beer. To make his version, Miller used water, barley, barley flour, a sourdough starter, coriander, cardamom, date syrup, and brewer's yeast. Some experts aren't sure if ancient beer was even alcoholic at all. Ancient beer is different from today's alesDon't expect your hymn-inspired homebrew to resemble anything you can buy at the store. There's also no evidence that ancient beer makers used hops, which is a ubiquitous ingredient today.

LONDON — While the European men's soccer championship ended in gloom yet again for England, the tournament boosted the nation's grocery store and hospitality spending — with no and low-alcohol sales seeing a particular boom. Take-home grocery sales increased 2.2% across the four weeks to July 7, with beer sales up by an average 13% on England match days, market research firm Kantar said in research released Tuesday. No and low-alcohol beer sales meanwhile spiked 38%, Kantar said, attributing this to the fact that many England matches were held on weeknights. It is the latest sign of strength in the no and low-alcohol beer market, which has grown rapidly in recent years with offerings from both the brewing juggernauts and incumbents such as Lucky Saint, which is served in cans and on tap in thousands of U.K. pubs and bars. Research firm IWSR forecasts the U.K.'s total beverage alcohol market will see a 1% decline across volume and value over the next five years, as no and low-alcohol grows 19%.

Sporting events such as the ongoing Euro 2024, the upcoming Copa Americana and Paris Olympics, coupled with hotter weather, are expected to drive up demand for the beverage. Pointing to the Euro 2024, Chinese online database QiChaCha noted that bars and stores have been decorated with European Cup merchandise and they are offering sports-themed meals to cash in on the frenzy. "The European Cup ignites the 'beer economy,'" the firm said, adding that China's beer industry had shown a clear trend towards high-end offerings. They also expect China's beer industry to continue to benefit from a product mix upgrade, besides lower barley prices and packaging material prices in 2024. Carlsberg chief executive Jacob Aarup-Andersen said that brewers will be boosted by events such as the Paris Olympics and the Euro 2024, according to the report.

Davis, 51, was flying with his wife, two sons and daughter when one of the sons asked for a cup of ice during beverage service, Davis wrote. A flight attendant “either didn’t hear or ignored his request and continued past our row,” the post read. “I calmly reached behind me and lightly tapped (the attendant’s) arm to get his attention to again ask for a cup of ice for my son,” Davis wrote. “During questioning, it was rightfully determined by the agents that this flight attendant was inaccurate in his accusations and the agents profusely apologized,” Davis wrote. United Airlines has “removed the flight attendant from duty while we closely review this matter,” the company said in an email to CNN on Monday evening.

Wall Street’s expectations for a September rate cut rose to roughly 93% on Thursday from 73% the day before, according to the CME FedWatch Tool. “A September rate cut should be a done deal at this point,” wrote Ron Temple, chief market strategist at Lazard, in a Thursday note. Some economists worry that if the Fed doesn’t cut rates by then, cracks could begin to deepen in the labor market. A September rate cut “may not be the magic elixir some investors are seeking,” wrote Brent Schutte, chief investment officer at Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management, in a Monday note. On an annual basis, consumer prices are increasing at their slowest pace since June 2023, matching the lowest annual rate since early 2021.

Pressures faced by lower-income consumers have been smoothed over by robust spending from the middle- and higher-income cohort. 'A shift in priorities' Even with cracks emerging in the consumer, many investors anticipate a soft landing for the economy. "They are spending, but they're being more particular than they were before in terms of what they're spending on," she added. "As more consumers shift their meal preferences to eating at home as opposed to eating out, that could provide a catalyst to lift these stocks valuations," he wrote. But just how much value is there in these kinds of “value” meals? Well, actually, not as much as you may think, since prices for many key ingredients used in value meals are coming down. Cheese, potatoes and tomatoes are getting cheaperMany of the recently announced value meals use cheese, potatoes and tomatoes. Meat eaters benefit the most from the value meal warIf you eat meat, you’re more likely to benefit from some value menu items. Given that meat prices are rising at a faster pace than most foods, it’s no wonder most fast-food chains are only offering value menus for a limited time.

CNN —The average menstruating person will spend about five years of their total reproductive lifespan using an estimated 11,000 tampons, sanitary pads, panty liners and other menstrual products, experts say. What if some of those menstrual aids contain heavy metals or potentially toxic chemicals linked to chronic diseases and reproductive and developmental problems? “I do not want people to panic, but to be aware that heavy metals have been found in these menstrual products,” Schilling said. “However, there is no reason for people to be afraid to use menstrual products at this time,” she added. In this gilded echo chamber, Mr. Trump enjoys unwavering devotion — and collects the staggering price of admission. During the 2014-15 season — the last before Mr. Trump officially entered politics — The Times counted 52 fund-raiser events at Mar-a-Lago. More than two dozen midterm candidates had already held fund-raisers on the property when Mr. Trump made that statement. But that changed when Letitia James, the New York attorney general, sued Mr. Trump for exaggerating the value of his properties. And, unlike when Mr. Trump was president, “he was there a lot,” Mr. Rustmann said.
