On Sunday, officials attempted to block opposition volunteers from voting centers, and in some places, they succeeded. The QR code scans gave a team of campaign workers immediate access to voting results, which they tabulated Sunday night and Monday. The National Electoral Council has not yet shared the tallies on its website, which has been down since Monday. While it is not obligated to post images of the tally sheets, it has previously shared each sheet’s totals. The campaign needed to get them all fully scanned using equipment especially designed to copy the tally sheets.

The big storyFor saleGetty Images; Jenny Chang-Rodriguez/BIOne of Tesla's biggest assets is its willingness to try new things, but its unique approach to sales is also what's giving it headaches. AdvertisementA key issue is Tesla's inability to evolve its sales tactics as the EV market rapidly changes . Business Insider's Grace Kay spoke to more than a dozen current and former employees in Tesla's sales division about how the company has tried to kick-start its sales unit . Not unlike its cars, Tesla's sales approach is innovative compared to the rest of the automotive industry. It's a great strategy when the cars sell themselves — which Teslas did for a while — since you don't need to maintain a traditional sales structure.

The NFL just got a $4.7 billion win — for now

Read previewThe NFL landed a significant, albeit likely temporary, legal victory as a federal judge overturned a $4.7 billion verdict against the league. Gutierrez wrote that the evidence did not support the $4.7 billion in damages awarded in June. The jury initially awarded $4.7 billion in damages, which could have been tripled to $14 billion under federal antitrust laws. The judge wrote that two key witnesses' testimony should be excluded. Daniel Rascher and John Zona's testimonies were supposed to show that subscribers would have paid less if the NFL hadn't made a deal with DirecTV, the judge wrote.

Chevron, the second-largest U.S. oil company, is moving its headquarters to Houston, from California, formalizing a long-expected breakup with a state that has pushed aggressively to address climate change. The company’s ties to California date to the 1870s. Chevron said it already had roughly 7,000 employees in the Houston area and around 2,000 at its current headquarters in San Ramon, Calif., near San Francisco. The State of California sued Chevron and other large oil companies last year, claiming that they misled the public about the risks of fossil fuels, the extraction of use of which are a leading cause of climate change. Chevron’s chief executive, Mike Wirth, criticized the lawsuit last year, saying in a Bloomberg Television interview that litigation was not the right approach.

Eleven years ago, in 2013, Holder said that Mohammed and his associates would have been “on death row as we speak” had the case gone to federal court as he proposed. But he blamed Congress for blocking a federal trial that would have resulted in swifter justice. They were dealt a bad hand by the political hacks and those who lost faith in our justice system,” Holder said in a statement to NBC News on Thursday. “If my decision to try KSM and his confederates in the tested and effective federal court system had been followed they would be nothing more than a memory today,” Holder said. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said he’s “long advocated that our federal court system is perfectly capable of conducting this kind of trial” and was well-suited to handling serious crimes.

After reaching a peak around $320 in July 2023, META spent four solid months bouncing between price support around $280 and retesting the July peak. With this week's earnings beat, we'll likely see META test the upper end of this new trading range. Here we can see the recent trading range in much better context, but we can also see weakening momentum conditions. The declining momentum on the weekly chart suggests a serious headwind to META's attempt to break out of its recent trading range. The 2023 range was finally eclipsed once we saw an upside break above a clearly defined resistance level.

In a world that seems consumed by the trials of capitalism and the unyielding pressure to work, Robin Leach, the British television personality who died in 2018, noted one place that did it differently: In Italy, Mr. Leach said, they add work and life onto food and wine. The $4.7 billion verdict against the National Football League for colluding to raise prices for its Sunday Ticket television package was overturned late Thursday by a federal judge, who disqualified expert testimony used by the jury to determine damages. The judge, Philip Gutierrez of U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, ruled a day after lawyers for the N.F.L. The jury’s verdict five weeks ago in favor of those plaintiffs threatened to upend the league’s strategy of selling exclusive television packages to broadcasters. In his 16-page decision, Judge Gutierrez said the plaintiffs’ two economic witnesses had used flawed methodology in their attempts to show that the league overcharged Sunday Ticket customers. The jury’s calculations of damages were thrown out because they were based on the witnesses’ testimony, which included comparisons to how college games are broadcast and unsubstantiated speculation on how the N.F.L.

New York CNN —A California judge threw out a jury verdict ordering the NFL to pay more than $4.7 billion for anti-trust violations surrounding its “Sunday Ticket” package, which lets fans watch games outside of their home markets but required them to buy access to a bundle of games to do so. The league, America’s most popular source of television programming, vowed to appeal the verdict in June. In a statement, the NFL said it was “grateful” for the ruling. Anadolu | Anadolu | Getty ImagesShops and public transport across Venezuela shut down on Wednesday as tensions over a fiercely disputed presidential election and rumors of more opposition arrests and sporadic violence kept many people home. Socialist President Nicolas Maduro, who has ruled since 2013, was proclaimed the winner of the Sunday vote by the electoral council. Meanwhile, international pressure on the government has mounted to release full results, including from regional heavyweights the United States and Brazil. At a session of the Washington-based Organization of American States, Brian Nichols, a senior U.S. diplomat for Latin America, said the reason Venezuela's electoral authority has failed to release full vote tallies is "obvious." Either officials do not want to confirm Gonzalez's lopsided triumph, or they need more time to falsify results, he argued.

CNN —JD Vance is making a second pass at introducing himself to America as the Ohio senator attempts to put his uneven rollout as Donald Trump’s running mate in the rearview mirror. Vance is also expected to begin holding news conferences with reporters as early as this week, the source said. At a closed-door fundraiser in Oklahoma City last week, Trump’s finance team was hoping the former president’s new running mate would raise $1 million. The campaign was well aware of Vance’s past criticisms of Trump and the deeply anti-abortion views he vocally defended. Still, people close to both Trump and Vance argue that America has yet to learn how effective the Ohio senator can be when in the spotlight.

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris each unleashed a new wave of television ads Tuesday as they race to secure an advantage in a presidential campaign dramatically altered in recent weeks. In its first major ad blitz targeting Harris, the Trump campaign is zeroing in on her immigration record in ads running across several key battleground states. It’s a sign that the former president has settled on a longstanding GOP line of attack against the vice president, after grappling with the abrupt change atop the Democratic ticket. Trump, in two new campaign ads, seeks to define Harris on his terms by relying on what has been a political liability for the Biden administration: the management of the US-Mexico border. In response, Harris campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa said Trump is “running on his trademark lies” and said the former president opposed a congressional border deal that would have helped with enforcement.

Huw Edwards, who left the BBC in April after many years leading the British national broadcaster’s coverage of major events, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three counts of making indecent images of children. Mr. Edwards, 62, is charged with sharing illegal images on WhatsApp. The guilty plea caps a stunning fall for the television anchor, who presented the BBC’s flagship 10 p.m. newscast and was a familiar face in many British households.
