Tim Graham | Getty ImagesIndia "clearly has a problem" figuring out new drivers for its economic growth even as its economy expands at a fast pace, JPMorgan's Jahangir Aziz said, following the country's union budget. "If you look at India over the last two years post the pandemic, recorded growth has been strong. But if you look at the drivers of growth, it's essentially these two: Public infrastructure and services export," Aziz, chief emerging markets economist at JPM, told CNBC's "Street Signs Asia" on Tuesday. According to estimates by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India's services exports will likely hit $30.3 billion in June, compared with $27.8 billion in the same month last year. According to the International Monetary Fund's latest World Economic Outlook, the country's growth is predicted to decline to 6.5% in 2025.

Tamil Nadu, the South Indian state where her mother’s family is from, is one of India’s largest growers of coconut palms. It’s also the kind of thing an Indian parent might say. Ms. Harris, the vice president and Democratic candidate for president, neither advertises nor shies away from her Indian heritage. Last year, Ms. Harris spoke of her deep personal connection to India at a luncheon in Washington for Narendra Modi, the Indian prime minister, whom the United States has been courting. Her introduction to the concepts of equality, freedom and democracy came from her Indian grandfather, Ms. Harris said, with whom she went on long walks during her visits to Chennai.

New York CNN —The right-wing media machine is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Kamala Harris. In most of corporate America, even calling someone a “DEI” candidate would be grounds for stiff disciplinary action, if not outright dismissal. Which narrative Trump’s media allies settle on remains to be seen. That’s how right-wing media confronted Obama in 2008. What, are they just going to say if you’re not a white male, it’s a DEI candidate?” moderate Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski said.

And Democratic-aligned donors from all those worlds are eager to help Harris get there. That figure marks the year of the sorority’s founding at Harris’ alma mater, Howard University. More than 1.1 million donors have contributed – with 62% of them first-time givers this cycle, Harris’ campaign said. He said he held his first fundraiser for Harris at his Boston-area home during her successful 2016 Senate campaign. But for all the early enthusiasm, the groups supporting Harris say big challenges remain – both in sustaining her campaign’s early financial momentum and in helping blunt looming attacks on her race and gender.

That cemented a remarkable reality: at the current moment, a woman of Indian descent will either serve another term in the White House or be the second lady. It was the latest milestone for an Indian American community that has emerged as a political powerhouse over the past decade. Kamala Harris in 2021 became the first person of Indian descent, as well as the first woman and Black person, to be vice president. The 2024 presidential cycle is the first one to have featured two Indian American candidates in Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy. And there are now five Indian American members of Congress and nearly 40 Indian Americans in state legislatures — the highest number of any Asian origin group in the country, according to AAPI Data, an organization that collects data about Asian Americans.

BARCELONA, SPAIN - FEBRUARY 26: A logo sits illuminated at the Nokia booth in the Mobile World Congress 2024 on February 26, 2024 in Barcelona, Spain. (Photo by Xavi Torrent/Getty Images)Shares of Finnish telecom firm Nokia tumbled on Thursday after the company reported a 32% drop in second-quarter operating profit on the back of weak demand for its 5G equipment. Earlier in the day, Nokia said its comparable operating profit declined to 423 million euros ($462 million) in the second quarter, down by nearly a third from the 619 million euros posted in the same period of last year. Citing "ongoing market weakness," the company said net sales also eased by 18% to 4.47 billion euros – the lowest level achieved since the fourth quarter of 2015, according to LSEG data. The landscape likewise remains "challenging as operators continue to be cautious" in the mobile networks sector, he warned.

At first glance, The Crosby, an apartment building that opened in 2020 in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood, seems like a typical luxury high-rise. And most office buildings have central air conditioning, so the system needs to be replaced with individual cooling and heating systems for each unit. “Only about 15% of office buildings here in the markets that we’re based in are potentially good candidates for office-to-housing conversions,” Sherman said. While that may initially seem like a positive, apartment units need to have access to windows facing the exterior. Local governments aren’t only pushing for office building conversions, though.

On June 23, when the Fever faced off against the Sky in Chicago, the average ticket price was around $250 — the most expensive average ticket price ever for a WNBA game — according to the ticket resale marketplace TickPick. It's not uncommon for star athletes like Clark to drive soaring ticket prices when they play away from home. If two arenas have the same level of ticket demand, the one with more seats could, in theory, have lower ticket prices. Tickets cost less in smaller marketsThings tend to cost more in cities like New York than they do in Indianapolis, including ticket prices. Kumar said immigration is top of mind for many South Asian Republican voters because of the backlog facing millions of Hindu and Indian Americans who are waiting for green cards. That person, Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, was one of several people urging Trump in the final moments to select Ohio Sen. JD Vance. Only moments earlier, Trump had shared the information with Vance himself, according to multiple people familiar with the call. Trump spent the final 24 hours waffling over his pick, multiple sources told CNN, leaving even those in his inner circle guessing about his ultimate choice. Several Republican donors argued for Youngkin as Trump’s pick in recent days as it became clear that Rubio and Burgum may not make the cut. “I can’t stomach Trump,” Vance said in an interview with NPR at the time.

As the Ohio delegation chanted her husband’s name on the Republican convention floor in Milwaukee, Usha Vance stood beside the first-term senator and applauded as he was nominated by voice vote to be Donald Trump’s running mate. Now, with JD Vance as Trump’s vice presidential nominee, the couple has embarked on a journey even bigger than the 2022 Senate campaign in Ohio. If his 2022 Senate campaign is any indication, Usha Vance may play an understated but key role in helping introduce him to the public. This was followed by a luxury cruise across the Mediterranean and yet more celebrations in July ahead of the big day. But a beautiful wedding doesn't need to be expensive and there are ways to put on a spectacular show with a much smaller budget, according to Manwani and Suglani. On Friday afternoon, Sneh Zala, 24, waited for celebrities to arrive on the red carpet for the wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of India’s richest man, and Radhika Merchant, a daughter of a fellow business tycoon. The red carpet was set up in a room adorned with lanterns and red and orange garlands and floral arrangements. It’s not every day that Kim and Khloé Kardashian, John Cena and Boris Johnson gather in Mumbai for an Indian wedding. Mr. Zala was one of about 100 media members clamoring next to the red carpet, not a common addition at most weddings. But given the sheer amount of celebrities present, including Bollywood superstars, several members of the Indian cricket team, former prime ministers and billionaire businessmen, and the fabulous Indian clothes on display, a runway seemed in order.
