UBS sees stocks rising to new heights in the new year, though not without a brief pullback. In a note Monday, UBS strategists said they see the S & P 500 rising to 6,400 by the end of 2025. The iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM) has popped 2.6% since the election, outperforming the S & P 500's 1.3% advance. The S & P 500 financials sector has been on fire since the Nov. 5 vote, up more than 6%. The S & P 500 traded around 5,900 on Monday, above UBS strategist Jonathan Golub's 2024 target of 5,850 .

The benchmark 10-year Treasury note yield is up more than 80 basis points (0.8 percentage point) since the Fed began cutting rates. While Wilson's base case sees the S & P 500 rising to 6,500, his most optmistic bullish scenario takes the benchmark all the way to 7,400 — 26% above Friday's close. However, his initial 2024 S & P 500 target proved too conservative at 4,500.

CNN —United States envoy Amos Hochstein is due to visit Beirut “imminently” after Lebanon responded “positively” to a US-backed proposal to stop the Israel-Hezbollah war, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Monday. Scientists previously believed that a large asteroid broke apart within the solar system, creating the meteorites that hit Earth during the Ordovician Period. The space rock is commonly referred to as a “mini-moon” due to it coming within 2.8 million miles (4.5 million kilometers) of the planet. Also, the suggested Earth ring would have “had to be the result of the disruption of a much larger body as the authors indicate in their paper,” he added in an email, so the asteroid, likely about 37 feet (11 meters) in diameter, could not have made a new ring for Earth. However, “this ring formation event we think may have happened only once in the last 500 million years.”
