Wall Street is growing more divided on how much the Federal Reserve will move interest rates next week. In fact, the market's mixed outlook ahead of the central bank decision is more unsettled than any time since the Fed started pushing borrowing costs higher in early 2022. Investors are certain that the Fed will begin reducing interest rates next week from their current 5.25% to 5.50% range, but a sense of uncertainty lingers. We do not anticipate any dissents" from voting members of the central bank's Federal Open Market Committee next week, Bank of America's Bhave added. "So if pricing stays where it is currently, it would be the first meeting in years where there's serious uncertainty about the rates decision."

Boeing workers went on strike Friday, the latest disturbance in what has proven a devastating year for the American aircraft manufacturer. Southwest had sharply brought down its delivery target for Boeing aircraft earlier this year. A United spokesperson said the carrier was working with Boeing to understand what the impact to the airline's delivery schedule might be. "There will probably be very little direct impact on consumers as a result of the Boeing strike," Harteveldt told NBC News. The previous Boeing machinists strike, in 2008, lasted nearly two months; however, in a note to clients, Bank of America analyst Ronald Epstein said the latest one could prove as short as a week.

WASHINGTON — In the heat of the 2024 campaign season, more than 400 first-time voters from across the country gathered here in July to discuss political issues and the upcoming election — but with a focus on being polite rather than being polarized. The gathering was a so-called deliberative poll where the participants were randomly selected to produce a representative sample of young voters from the entire nation. There have been past “America in One Room” studies of the general electorate, but this was the first to specifically examine first-time young voters. And the portion of young voters who opposed drilling in the Artic wilderness increased, from 72% before to 76% afterward. 'I see that point': Young voters gain more respect for differing viewsThe polling results also showed these young voters gaining more respect for differing viewpoints, with the share of participants saying their opponents had good reasons for their positions growing from 64% before the event to 71% afterward.
