SAP Labs India Managing Director Sindhu Gangadharan hopes the Indian unit will scale up its share of global SAP patents to 50% from 25% currently, she said in an interview on the sidelines of an event in Bengaluru. SAP Labs India, which employs over 15,000 people, aims to embed generative AI across its products to cater better to the changing needs of its clients ranging from Thermax (THMX.NS) to Dabur India (DABU.NS). "Through AI, India can solidify its IT supremacy," Gangadharan had said in the event, earlier in the day. The comments come as SAP looks to "double down" on investments in India, its fastest growing region and home to 40% of its global Research and Development (R&D) activity. Gangadharan, while referring to the regulation of AI, said there should be a "great amount of responsibility barriers with flexibility to the end-user".

He highlighted the enhanced photo capabilities on Pro models and called the new double tap feature the most notable upgrade to the Apple Watch. Many analysts expected hikes around $100 and $200 for the beefed up Pro and Pro Max iterations. Apple essentially delivered a $100 price hike on the Pro Max by doing away with the lower storage option. He noted that the hike on the Pro Max skewed to the low end of the Wall Street firm's expectation range. Evercore ISI's Amit Daryanani regarded the event as "mildly disappointing" for bulls hoping for a Pro price increase.

Monday night Ramaswamy was asked how he came to those thoughts and answered, “It’s not a thought I came to — it’s a hard fact. The criticism comes as Ramaswamy is slated to visit Ground Zero Monday for the tragedy’s 22nd anniversary. “It spits in the face of the thousands of lives that we lost on that day and subsequently,” Hurd said of Ramaswamy’s comments at a campaign stop here. Ramaswamy insists his comments about 9/11 revolve around the FBI’s changing story on Omar Al-Bouyimi. Twenty years after one of the most horrific days in American history, declassified FBI documents revealed Omar Al-Bayoumi, a Saudi national, aided two of the terrorists behind the attacks. “Declassified documents that came out 20 years later from the FBI said that the 9/11 Commission and the FBI absolutely were untruthful about Mohamed al-Bayoumi,” Ramaswamy said.

For Appen, that would mean finding specialists in particular types of information that can bolster generative AI systems. Even before the generative AI transition, wages for Appen's data labelers were a sticking point. Kim Stagg, Appen's vice president of product, said the work required for generative AI services was different than what the company has needed in the past. "With generative AI, we see a different demand." The company's plunging stock price suggests that investors don't see the company's business offerings transferring to the generative AI space.

NEWTON, Iowa — Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said he would like Elon Musk to be an adviser in his administration should he be elected. The statement came in response to a town hall question from a voter on Friday, asking the 38-year-old entrepreneur where he would seek guidance if elected. Musk on Aug. 17 reposted an interview on his social media platform, X, between Ramaswamy and Tucker Carlson, calling Ramaswamy “a very promising candidate.”Ramaswamy admires the mass layoffs Musk conducted after taking over Twitter last year. Last month, Ramaswamy participated in a virtual discussion with Musk where the CEO described himself as a moderate voter. Ron DeSantis announced his bid for the White House in a Twitter Space in May, a stunt which crashed the platform due to high traffic.

A bad year for stocks in 2022 carried into this year as global central banks battled inflation with interest rate rises that are now largely drawing to an end. A 71% majority of analysts, 55 of 77, who answered an additional question in the Aug. 9-23 poll said a correction by year-end in their local equity market was either likely or very likely. A "fear of missing out" is said to have helped drive much of the equity market rallies of recent years. The year-end forecast in February's Reuters poll was 4,200.

"In the near term, while the outlook for the developed world is uncertain, we expect China and India to remain relative sources of stability for commodity demand," BHP said. "We anticipate that these competing forces may have a variable impact on commodity prices in the period." But perhaps more concerning is that China and India, the two major sources of commodity demand in Asia, are at best stable in their demand outlooks, and even then BHP qualified this with the word "relative." When it comes to China, BHP acknowledged the current struggles Beijing is having in re-igniting growth in the world's second-biggest economy and top commodity importer. BHP is more confident about India, stating that an investment upswing is happening in the world's most populated country, and commodity demand has been "robust."

Donald Trump is airing a television ad in Atlanta, and other TV markets, that attacks the Fulton County district attorney who could soon charge the former president with his fourth criminal indictment. A Trump campaign aide told NBC News the one-minute political ad will air in Atlanta, New York and Washington, D.C., as well as nationally. It also names attorneys who’ve already brought charges against Trump, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and special counsel Jack Smith. Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump, and that special counsel, Jack Smith, is the one who is prosecuting Trump. An NBC News Political Unit analysis of Trump fundraising around his first two indictments found those time periods corresponded with a significant uptick in fundraising by Trump's political organization.

The only issue that Americans on all sides of our vast political divide seem to agree on is that we cannot agree on anything. Even basic facts have become matters of opinion. But polls indicate that about one-fifth of all Americans believe the microchip conspiracy theory to be true or are unsure whether it is true. It is a fact that Hunter Biden’s laptop was real, not part of a Russian disinformation campaign. In the work I do looking at the reliability of online news and information, I can see that the erosion of trust in basic facts is largely the result of too many people getting their news from social media platforms.

Former President Donald Trump has a week of campaign stops on the calendar as he gears up for another collision with the law — a departure from the lead-up to the first two criminal indictments he faced this year. Trump had no public official campaign stops in the five days before each of his first two indictments, in New York and Florida. On Tuesday, the former president will attend a campaign fundraising event in New Orleans, with tickets going for $23,200 per person/per couple. CLAREMONT, N.H. — Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is laying out plans to shut down a number of federal government agencies if elected, starting with the FBI, Department of Education and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Ramaswamy says his plan does not require rebuilding anything, but rather reorganizing. “In many cases, these agencies are redundant relative to functions that are already performed elsewhere in the federal government,” Ramaswamy said in an interview with NBC News. Eliminating federal agencies has become a recurring talking point in Republican primaries for years — most famously when then-Texas Gov. Rick Perry said in a 2011 GOP debate that he would eliminate three agencies but couldn’t remember one of them.
