They declined to state how much Amazon now would own of Anthropic or the startup's updated valuation, last estimated at more than $4 billion. The deal also shows ongoing maneuvering by the cloud companies to secure ties with AI startups reshaping their industry. Yet with Monday's deal, Anthropic is giving a boost to Amazon Bedrock, a service that has attracted thousands of users to start building AI applications. LexisNexis, a data analytics company, is working with Anthropic and Amazon to make its own legal search capabilities more "intelligent," Amodei said. Asked if Amazon would invest in additional AI startups beyond Anthropic, Selipsky said, "I honestly don't know what the future will hold."

Generative AI is making it easier to work multiple jobs at the same time. AI tools will lift earnings from multiple jobs by at least $83 billion by 2030, Morgan Stanley says. They forecast $400 billion in income from multiple jobs by 2030, with generative AI contributing about $83 billion of that. Morgan Stanley noted a 14% lift in call center productivity and a 55% boost for writing code, as examples. In content creation and e-commerce, 37% and 34% of respondents respectively said their income had been boosted with the help of generative AI tools.

She shared the prompts she used to train AI tools to help produce her blogs. Before I started using AI , I would always write my own blog posts. Once I had that, I'd write the different sections of the piece with information I'd researched. I didn't like AI-generated content at firstI've always been a bad manual typist and started using AI for voice typing. I don't think content entirely generated by AI is as valuable to the reader as AI content edited by a person.

OpenAI on Monday announced its biggest news since ChatGPT's debut: It's launching ChatGPT Enterprise, the AI chatbot's business tier, available starting Monday. ChatGPT Enterprise includes access to GPT-4 with no usage caps, performance that's up to two times faster than previous versions, and API credits. One key differentiator between ChatGPT Enterprise and the consumer-facing version: ChatGPT Enterprise will allow clients to input company data to train and customize ChatGPT for their own industries and use cases, although some of those features aren't yet available in Monday's debut. When asked how ChatGPT Enterprise compares with Bing Chat Enterprise, Microsoft's enterprise AI chatbot, an OpenAI representative told CNBC, "This is an OpenAI product independent of Microsoft. The biggest obstacle to ChatGPT Enterprise's development was figuring out how to prioritize features, Lightcap told CNBC.

Roughly 7% of all carbon emissions today come from cement production, making it one of the highest-emitting industrial sectors, according to the consulting firm McKinsey. PREVIEW“Concrete is an essential building material,” said Claude Loréa, director of cement, innovation and ESG at the Global Cement and Concrete Association. About two thirds of the clinker emissions are released by the limestone when heated while the rest come from the combustion of fuels to create the heat. Increased efficiencyOne way the industry is looking to improve sustainability in cement production is by targeting efficiency gains. Cemex, one of the world’s largest cement producers, has been working with Switzerland-based Synhelion to produce clinker using solar energy rather than coal.

That's all according to a Thursday report from researchers at Arthur AI, a machine learning monitoring platform. AI hallucinations occur when large language models, or LLMs, fabricate information entirely, behaving as if they are spouting facts. Meta's Llama 2, on the other hand, hallucinates more overall than GPT-4 and Anthropic's Claude 2, researchers found. In a second experiment, the researchers tested how much the AI models would hedge their answers with warning phrases to avoid risk (think: "As an AI model, I cannot provide opinions"). "Making sure you really understand the way the LLM performs for the way it's actually getting used is the key."

A group of researchers said they have found ways to bypass the content moderation of AI chatbots. One researcher involved in the study told Wired there was "no way" to patch the attacks. A group of researchers said they have found virtually unlimited ways to bypass the content moderation on major AI-powered chatbots, and no one is quite sure how to fix it. "There's no way that we know of to patch this," Zico Kolter an associate professor at CMU who was involved in a study told Wired. The study raises questions about the safety of publically available AI products such as ChatGPT.

The announcement follows plans by Microsoft's largest cloud rivals, Alphabet's (GOOGL.O) Google and Amazon (AMZN.O), to give business customers a range of AI models from which to choose. Amazon, for instance, is marketing access to Claude - AI from the high-profile startup Anthropic - in addition to its own family of Titan models.
