☆ What to Know About the Business Execs With Mike Lynch on His Yacht

The corporate world reeled this week after a superyacht carrying the British software mogul Mike Lynch, his family and associates and others sank on Monday during a violent storm off the coast of Sicily. Of the 22 people on the yacht, 15 were rescued and seven bodies were recovered, including that of Mr. Lynch, an official in the Italian city of Palermo confirmed. The bodies of two other prominent business figures — Christopher J. Morvillo, a top white-collar defense lawyer, and Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of Morgan Stanley International — were among those recovered. Others who were missing but whose bodies have now been recovered are Hannah Lynch, Mr. Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter; Mr. Morvillo’s wife, Neda Morvillo; and Mr. Bloomer’s wife, Judy Bloomer. CNN —The New York Liberty solidified their spot at the top of the WNBA standings with a 79-71 home win over the Dallas Wings at the Barclays Center on Thursday. The result made it eight victories in a row for the Liberty, who currently sit atop the Eastern Conference with a league-best 25-4 record, the team’s best start through 29 games in franchise history. The Liberty only shot 35.1% from the field as a team but still had four players score in double figures. It was a morale boosting win for New York, which became the first team to clinch a postseason berth on Saturday. The defeat moves the Wings to 6-22, tied for the worst record in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics.

PARIS — Two-time WNBA champion A'ja Wilson scored 21 points as the United States survived an unexpectedly close contest from host France, winning 67-66 for their eighth straight Olympic gold medal in women's basketball on Sunday. The U.S. women last lost in Olympic play when they failed to bring home gold in 1992. But after France drew a foul and Cooper made both free throws, a last-minute shot by Williams was not enough.
