The best-selling country artists of all time include Elvis Presley, Tim McGraw, and Shania Twain. We used RIAA's data to compile this list based on total album units sold in the US. Only three artists on this list debuted in the 2000s: Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Rascal Flatts. In fact, two of the top three best-selling musicians of all time are country music artists: Elvis Presley and Garth Brooks. We used the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA) list of best-selling artists, ranked by albums sold, to pick out the top 25 most successful country musicians of all time.

The new sculpture evokes a Tzompantli, a rack used in Mesoamerican civilizations to display the skulls of captured enemies and sacrifice victims. A lawyer who represented Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger will prosecute Karen Read, whose murder trial in the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend ended with a hung jury, when the case is retried, officials said Wednesday. In a statement, Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said he appointed attorney Hank Brennan to lead the effort to retry Read as special assistant district attorney. Morrissey described Brennan as a skilled former prosecutor and a long-time defense attorney with an expertise in complex law enforcement matters. Brennan was a longtime lawyer for Bulger before the crime boss was killed in a federal prison in West Virginia in 2018. The lead prosecutor in the case, assistant district attorney Adam Lally, will remain on the team that will retry Read, according to Morrissey’s statement.

A 60-year-old woman received third-degree burns while walking in a thermal area in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming this week, according to park officials. Visitors are urged to practice “extreme caution” in hydrothermal areas by staying on boardwalks and trails. Pets are prohibited on boardwalk and hiking trails in the backcountry and in thermal areas, according to the park service. And in March, actor Pierce Brosnan, best known for playing James Bond, was fined after he posted photos of himself standing on off-limits thermal areas of Yellowstone in the previous year. In August 2023, a Michigan man was charged with two federal misdemeanors after he burned himself in one of Yellowstone’s thermal areas, federal prosecutors said.

Elon Musk’s X faces steep daily fines in Brazil for allegedly evading a ban on the service there, according to a statement from the country’s supreme court on Thursday. The court said it would continue to impose “joint liability” on Starlink, the satellite internet service owned and operated by SpaceX, Musk’s aerospace venture. Brazil previously withdrew money for fines it levied against X from the accounts of X and Starlink at financial institutions in the country. X said it wasn’t intending to restore access for Brazilian users. Before the suspension, X had an estimated 22 million users in Brazil, according to Data Reportal.
